Sooo...Windows 7 fresh install...here we go!!

My flatmate is playing with his 3770k@4.5Ghz+GTX 780 SC ACX and my HD7950 on a fresh Windows 7 install on his secondary SSD. He's having a blast. And I'm out until Tuesday cause I'm visiting the family mad.gifsad-smiley-002.gif

He's asking me for access to my PC to test Mantle with my Phenom and our cards...he has already downloaded every chipset/sound/wifi/usb/graphic driver needed and the Windows 7 install USB is burning in his hands...I told him I hold that pleasure closely to my heart. biggrin.gif

And looking at the reception...Tuesday can't come quick enough devil.gif

Oh well, back to "suffer" good whiskies and beers with da and strong and tasty stews with ma. lachen.gif

Just posting this in Mantle related topics, if your BF4 (like mine) is crashing while trying to get to settings where you will enable mantle, just go to device manager and disable your iGPU (in my case the HD3000 of my 2600K) it works like a charm!

I wish there were more games out already that use Mantle. I might actually buy Battlefield 4 now just to try it out. Hopefully they can get the crossfire issues resolved soon because that's really the part that i'm interested in. Still, i'm glad AMD was finally able to start rolling this out.

I can't even play BF4 with these drivers on the 290x. I loaded up the test range and I receive massive stuttering spikes. The graphics completely freeze for a few seconds while the audio is looped, completely unplayable.

So here is the scoop guys. Mantle works! Star Swarm proves that. All these issues with Mantle and battlefield 4? Blame EA/Dice for releasing a buggy mess that's taking MUCH LONGER THEN IT SHOULD to fix. On top of that, I will assume that they knew that Mantle will be implemented a long time ago. I for one will sit back and relax. DX11 works for now and it's not like ya'll have lost anything because Mantle doesn't work. Switch back to DX11, frag your heart out, and enjoy the other 20+ titles coming out soon that will have Mantle on it.

have you done everything to not have this stutterings?

#1 use DDUL to unistall drivers, go into safe mode and delete all the files you have related to your old drivers
"Installing The AMD Catalyst™ Software Driver
Current driver MUST be uninstalled before updating to AMD Catalyst™ 14.1 Beta driver. For detailed instructions on how to correctly uninstall or install the AMD Catalyst Software Suite".

#2 turn off V-sync / AA /

#3 restart your pc after enabling mantle, read the fine text at the bottom of the game menu when activating Mantle... "Restart Game for the option to take effect".

#4 turn off DXtory or Fraps is causing issue with mantle and bf4 some how... i read this here on OCN tho.

#5 If you still have stuttering problems and just formatt windows and reinsttal it and fresh 14.1 install made stuttering go away If you want to solve stuttering just format and reinstall windows and do a fresh driver install.

#6 if you have CF it will give you stuttering, just turn it off.

hope this collection of things help someone biggrin.gif

I am disappoint. I tested BF4 mantle on my sig rig. I should have seen huge bump in performance considering I have a technically "low end" CPU I saw almost no increase at all in MP. The only thing I got by switching to mantle in BF4 was huge lag spikes in the graph. FPS counter in game on DX11 was 40-50 max settings, stayed the same with Mantle. its weird because the graph looked smoother, with the exception of huge single lag or frame spikes every several seconds.

Same thing here with a 7870 GHZ
