Opteron OC stuck at 2.5GHz

Thread Starter
Hey,

I have an Opteron 165 CCBWE on an Asus A8N-SLi Premium board with OCZ PC3700 Gold series RAM.

Currently my CPU is sat at 2.5GHz [ 280 x 9 ], with my PCI-E locked at 100 and my RAM locked at 200.

So with the OC, my RAM is doing 140MHz with 2-3-3-7.

I know both my board and CPU can take more, yet for some reason, I dont seem able to take it over the 2.55GHz barrier without restarts.

Can anyone advise me on what to try or what I am doing wrong.

Thanks.

Also, may be worth giving the Northbridge voltage a nudge.

Yeh some info would help...That board doesn't have a memory lock..Tha I have found...So if you have it on the 200 setting then your running it at 100...you need to try 333...Set your ram up .1 overvolts and the chipset to 1.6...And make sure your ht multi is set to x3

~~ edit
`` also if you set it to 333 your gonna need timings of 2.5-3-3-7 Post back and we can try to tweak your ram some more if all of that helps some

Sorry for the lack of info, my bad.

CPU voltage is at Auto, chipset has now been set to 1.6 as suggested HT Voltage is 1.2 DDR voltage is at Auto aswell.

Set mem to 333MHz at 2.5-3-3-7.

Haven't up'd the FSB since changing the voltages or RAM timings, want to see what you folks suggest first.

Edit - Hangs at POST

wait.... you have the ram set to 200? Isn't that 1:1? And finally, make sure your Vcore is at like 1.35, most opty's don' like high voltages.

I did have the RAM set at 200MHz in the BIOS but set it to 333MHz [ as suggested unless I got that wrong ] which caused it to hang at POST. Reduced the RAM to 266MHz and boots fine. CPU-Z says my RAM frequency is 180MHz though ?

I will set the Vcore to 1.35 as suggested in a second.

you got it right I have that board...Take the cpu vcore off of auto set it to 1.375...Set your ram to 2.8...And then retry the oc

Also in the area where you adjust your ram is another area called HT frequency set that from auto to x3
