@UZ7, this card has 2x 6 pin connectors, so I don't think it's a 7970 PCB. How else could I check?

I think the 7970 PCB has 1x 6, 1x8 hmm

Yeah, so at this point the only thing I don't understand is the different die size GPUz is reporting.. The other werid stuff makes sense with these tweaky new drivers

Was the die size really 365mm^2?

Well I found old screenshots of GPU-Z saying 365mm as well, but is this die size change/bug due to the 14.1 driver?

I know this thread is a little old now but I wanted to chip in with my own info. I brought a 2nd hand Powercolor HD7950 for a friend a couple of weeks back and when I tested it out on my own system it reported as a Tahiti pro2 and in Gpu-z it reported as an R9 200 series. I have now put this card in my friends system and it reports exactly the same as it did on mine and as the OP of this thread, the card runs fine and in fact when I had it it was an amazing overclocker and if it wasn't for me owning an R9 290x I'd have kept it for myself! The only issues my friend has is when he checks his PC specs to run games on sysrequirementslab which says it has HD7950 stream processors etc but says it's an R9 200 series so when he checks against certain games he gets a low score due to the discrepancies but as I said to him, I wouldn't worry too much as it's a capable card anyway so should run pretty much anything he throws at it!

The only info i've found so far is that the Tahiti pro2 just means it's a boost enabled card and not much more! The only other reason I can think of the discrepancy is that the new R9 280 is a re-badged HD7950 so it may be it's that that programs are picking up on and causing the discrepancy. Other than that the card runs perfectly and the only issues my friend has in games may be due to the fact that his old card was a HD5850 so is a big step up in performance etc and he's managed to iron out most game issues he's experienced. Lastly, both me and my friend uninstalled previous graphics card drivers before re-installing for the HD7950 and we both use the most up to date and stable drivers from AMD (14.4).
