Updated the Hadron Air guide with new labelled photos I took of my build, pointing out some quick specs. Should be a bit easier to visually understand smile.gif

Hi all, will be receiving my Hadron in the mail hopefully this afternoon but otherwise monday (fingers crossed). This will be my first build.

@Qu1ckset
How have you found the Maximus Impact's Audio? I went with this board for that reason but was sceptical of its quality compared to something like this http://audioengineusa.com/Store/D1-24-Bit-DAC

Any advice for cable management / build & setup using this board and card? thumb.gif

I received mine friday, right now i have my z87i pro and 4670k inside.

Got some issues with my MSI 770 TF delivery but it should be here tuesday.
Alter that I will be waiting for my screen but until that i got my projector. I will upload pictures when everything is inside.

I was worried about my custom graphic card fitting in there but i saw on Youtube that a dude fit a ASUS DC2U 270x inside that cases (10.7 " x 5.24 " x 1.578 " Inch) higher and longer than mine.

But right now I just love the case... I used to have a iMac because I like compact computer and this was the perfect case for me!

nice builds guys (and gals?), and great job collating information for current/future builders. This will be my next build I believe, and my first mITX. I've been doing μATX builds for years, with a couple LianLi's at the house currently, a SG03 that I used for years as my portable game machine (just built it back out for my brother), and now my office/portable gamer SG10 (so far my favorite).

I've been an Intel fan for years, but with the SG10 I went AMD for the first time since K7s, and I couldn't be happier. The main downside has been motherboard support, specifically when going SFF. Now that I'll be going mITX, the motherboard support concern may still be my primary issue. I'm thinking of going with the ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ but it doesn't appear to be compatible with some HSF combos, specifically that require specialized backplane mounts.

I guess a question to ya'll: any experience with this board with non OEM HSF combos? I'll be researching more in the next few weeks as I decide my options and start purchasing.

Hi all,

got my components 2 weeks ago and built it last week. Was my first build in what seems an eternity. But since my old trusty Mac Pro wasn't up for the latest games, and neither MS or Sony could convince me to buy their consoles this year, I thought I'll build up a new small gaming rig that could be easily transported from my desk to my TV.
I love the outer design of the case. It was a pain to put everything in (damn drive cage and long GPU) but I had fun with it. I will post some pictures later, but here are the specs:

Case: Hadron Air with standard outtake fans
MOBO: Asus Maximus VI Impact
CPU: i5 4670k
CPU Cooler: EVGA mITX Cooler
RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LP black
GPU: MSI R9 280X Twin Frozr
ODD: the matisha sold by EVGA
HDD: Kingston HyperX 3k 240GB

Previous owned stuff attached to it:
Apple Cinema Display 27" + Kanex SnapX mDP Switch
Belkin Nostromo n52TE
Logitech G19
Logitech G602
Microsoft wireless receiver for 360 controller
Razer Tiamat 2.2

Issus and future plans:
Had to bend the left side a bit to get the GPU in. But it is possible to get it in without the bending. The Impact's Soundcard was in the way to lean the GPU in further
Cable management to rework (perhpas some sleeving and rerouting)
PSU Fan... Under full load, the cooler and top stay really quiet/acceptable, but the PSU turbine can be well heard even with headphones on.

Cable Management is what it is in this case nothing amazing, if you're not using the hard drives im sure you could tuck some in there, im waiting on my Air Cooler to arrive next week so i will be tearing my computer apart to install it and clean up my cable management to the best of my ability's!

I honestly don't recommend GPU's with aftermarket coolers in this case, i owned the EVGA ACX GTX770 2GB and used for about 2weeks and now own a reference blower style Zotac GTX780 3GB and the difference between the two in this case is night and day in this case!

With the ACX cooler the over all case temp, CPU temp, Exhausting air out the top of the case were all very noticeable higher, the PSU can seemed to be working hard as well! , With the Blower style 780 the over case is much cooler, and noise is down quite a bit even tho the Zotac's cooler fans are louder then the EVGA ACX fans. PSU fan seems to be non existent when it comes to noise now, very happy i made the switch!

I think an expensive outboard soundcard will always be better than an internal one, because there's much less interference from other components. If you've got the money, go for it. Or if you're planning on USB headset with it's own sound driver, the impact's soundcard will be lost to you.

As I do most of my music on my workhorse and use the Hadron for gaming only with stereo headset, I was quite impressed with the quality of the impacts sound card. But never, never, connect the headset on the front of the case, even if attached to the supremeFX, there's so much interference I thought the card was broken until i plugged the headphone into the rear I/O. It is a really nice soundcard considering it's onboard.

I'm always transporting this case around and thought it would be awesome if I could have a padded bag that fits this thing perfectly. Anybody have any duffel bags or anything with similar dimensions to the hadron where it would be easy to load/unload??
