migrating from galaxy s3 to note 3. Anyone here done it? - Page 2

Turns out the problem with Astrid is that they shut their server down and it's the only way to transfer anything.

Turns out Pimlical is finally done though (6 years to write!) I was a Palm pilot user from way back, so it's a bit like coming home to a much much nicer house.

S3 is now offline and I'm looking for some kind of Pimlical user group. This thing is wildly powerful, but also wildly complicated. Definite learning curve.

KNOX absolutely rampantly pisses me off. There's all this talk about how awesome the "securtiy" is, but they're forcing it onto your phone, and for 90+% of users the only actual effect it has is to prevent rooting, so the only reasonable conclusion is that the whole thing is a complete crock.

The thig is absolutely covered in shovelware that constantly inturrupts me and trys to sell me stuff or extract personal data, and none of it is removable, and I can;t even prevent the stuff from running.

I absolutely LOVE the stylus, and the power sufficient to actually run a wireless video skype, and the giant screen that makes pimliCAL rock, so the hardware is fantastic.

If they made KNOX optional instead of stuffing it down my throat with a broomstick it would be fantastic. As it is though, unless you must have a stylus for the art functions, I would go with something else. KNOX is THAT bad.

That's Samsung for you frown.gif

Do you have a pic of that gs3? I have an extra screen here. Sadly I went to repair a friend's gs3 and he did not tell me he had broken the OLED display LCD as well, so its just sitting there.

No problem smile.gif Glad you like your new phone, except for Knox of course.

I went the route of GS3>GN2>GN3. Just an extra step. If you go over to xda forums, you will find the RdV method which gives you root and keeps knox intact. Especially, if you have insurance through your provider, then Knox is not a big deal.

spent an hour hunting for it but finding nothing i can understand. Most everything is in french. Apparently there is some sort of french band named rdv too which makes things a bit complicated. I got the impression that rdv stands for real time data viewer, but that's about it.

Samsung Knox really only benefits employees for a business which uses Knox.

Here's a great article on how to understand Samsung Knox by Kaspersky systems:
