That's why. This is not just something I made up, this is AMD itself in its own presentation on FreeSync, where they themselves said it.

It's probably going to be tegra + professional markets + grid, but you never know. Jensen might surprise us with some new GeForce goodies.

I'm constantly getting spammed with Tegra marketing. When I asked my rep about 8xx he just says you'll have to wait and see. mad.gif

The 7970 to 780ti would be a nice upgrade tho.

I upgrade different than most, I look forward to going from a 930 to a 5930K. Double the cores, and greatly improved IPC.

I'm not sure how much you'll gain in gaming going from 2500K --> 3770K. The 2500K at 4.6 is pretty bestly isn't it?
I would think the 5-15% gain in performance along with access the PCIe 3.0 would be a sufficient enough reason to upgrade. thumb.gif

Hell, look @ the size of Max Payne... It was confirmed @ some point they filled it full of fluff to make it less desirable to pirates.

Forbes is not a source, Nvidia is. Important distinction.
Forbes quotes an nvidia representative. I'm hopeful they were accurate but who knows just yet, as Alatar said.

Now certainly people will disagree but tomorrow i'm willing to bet good money that the vast majority of critic and user reviews will be overwhelmingly positive. Simply put, the game is a blast. And that surprised the heck out of me, I wasn't expecting to like it so much when I played the beta. Cuz i'm usually hard to impress.

Disclaimer: I preordered, I'll be playing tonight, I had a great time in the beta, etc etc.

There is definitely a rush you feel from the frantic pace, I haven't felt it in other fps, cod or otherwise. My hope is the DLC will be more than just maps and include additional game modes, it's going to take some interesting/really fun game modes to keep me playing more than a couple weeks.

embedded day one DLC?! don't care, not playing it.

No on-disc DLC, I already e-mailed Respawn and asked that.

Someone also already did a file dig and found something around 35GB is loss-less audio files, for all regions. Meaning, if you buy the U.S. version you are still downloading the audio files for all the other languages and territories.

I imagine a mod/patch will come out not too long after release that cleans it up and greatly shrinks the installation size.

I don't disagree. While the beta was a blast, everything hinges on having more game modes in the final product. The beta was more a demo in that respect, to give us an idea of what the final game would be - my understanding was that a lot of game modes were removed from the beta. But i'm not sure. I hear the final game does have a lot more stuff to do in the final product, but we'll see tonight when the full game is released. If there are a ton of additional game modes, i'll be more than happy. The baseline gameplay itself is a lot of fun, and definitely differentiates itself from other straight up shooters. Very unique in some respect.

Also as far as game modes.... I'm not counting DLC either, i'm not a big fan of buying stuff beyond the baseline game. *cough cough BF4 and COD*.

I think that, if nvidia decides to remain on 28nm lithography that it is plausible we may get more Maxwell parts prior to 2H 2014. If all desktop Maxwell SKUs are 20nm? It definitely will be 2H 2014. It all depends. And there has been more than one hardware website that dropped vague hints of more Maxwell desktop SKUs dropping sooner than anyone expects. PCPer, Hardwarecanucks, EVGA, I could go on here. But in the end I don't know. It's fun to speculate. I don't think GTX 800 is imminent, certainly, I mean we usually get solid rumors from the guys in China about 8 weeks out. Rumors that have been spot on have consistently occured 8-10 weeks prior to new GPU releases in the past 3 years. This includes the 7970, GTX 680, etc etc etc. We had solid rumors 8 weeks out that were absolutely spot on. So since we don't have that for big Maxwell, I don't think it's happening in April or May. But summer isn't inconceivable if GTX 800 is on 28nm, with a 20nm refresh later.

Also! TSMC stated made a list of companies that have bought and secured 20nm wafer purchase in a press release. Interestingly, nvidia has secured 20nm wafer purchases, along with the usual suspects - Apple, Qualcomm, etc etc etc. AMD was absent from that list, they apparently have not secured 20nm wafer purchases. So...I don't know what to make of that, unless wafer costs for 20nm are prohibitive. Or if nvidia is using it primarily for Tegra K1/Denver? I have no idea. Or..maybe it's for GM204/GM200. Who knows.

Anyway, let the speculation continue. wink.gif

Agreed.

And, given that they said we won't get 800 series parts prior to 2H 2014, that then tells me that they're likely to be 20nm. If anything other in Maxwell comes sooner than that, it won't be 800 series.

I just don't understand how people can pretend that Nvidia saying "800 series arrives second half 2014" means anything other than "800 series arrives second half 2014." Yes, I know that they had a roadmap from a long time ago that said March, but if it were March, they would have said March during their presentation three weeks ago, and not 2H 2014.
