[wccftech] GeForce 800 Series Arrives in Second Half of 2014 - Page 82

This is what I'm thinking it will be as well. I think the 790 was rumored to be two GK110's but without all the cores enabled.

790 is supposed to be 2x 11SMX GPU's w/ a varying estimation of Vram.

I HIGHLY doubt you would see the second Maxwell card being a dual GPU solution, but anything is possible.

I find it much more plausible that EVGA is hinting towards a trade up for 790, than 880.

i.e. trust me, if you have 8X the speed of GPUs and 8x the speed of CPU they would STILL find ways to squeeze them. It's after all VERY easy to make a polygon with more vertices and more animation frames.

As of recent years I haven't seen anything that really stresses hardware manufactures like they have in the past. Especially when it comes to CPUs. CPUs from 6 years ago are still holding their own in modern games and applications.

GPUs are still increasing at a pretty fair pace as far as I'm concerned. It's less of a hardware constraint at this point and more of a software issue. There hasn't really been a major jump in games to be completely honest. It's been ~7 years since Crysis (the original). That needed serious power to get that thing to run, but not so much because it was ungodly demanding, but largely due to how it was made, just poorly optimized.

Lol, what exactly does being Vietnamese have anything to do with anything? So if they had been from Europe or the US they would be more reliable? Common sense dictates that there's not going to be any March release of a flagship card otherwise we'd have heard something by now. Second half of 2014 is what its going to be with the 790 taking up all the oxygen for the first half of the year. We all know AMD isn't releasing anything of note this year so there is absolutely no need for Nvidia to rush anything.

AMD is supposedly getting ready to release a dual Hawaii ARES, but those are some seriously expensive pieces of hardware. Note that the only viable way to run a dual hawaii GPU would be water cooled (imo)

also, we are just now getting multi-core engines, that in its self is going to make a pretty big difference on today's top of the line hardware.

volta or bust.

you know it! Three highly clocked EVGA Titans will hold me until 2016... I hope... Worst thing that happens is that I have to turn down the settings to maintain 60fps. confusedsmiley.png heaven forbid.

Hell, my TWO Titans is plenty of performance to last me til Volta. Of course I don't have to have 60FPS all the time (30 FPS is still plenty playable to me) though only Crysis 3 and FC3 get anywhere near that low on my setup. smile.gif
post #819 of 1139
i bet my arm we will get our hands on the 800 cards by april
post #820 of 1139
and i'll bet my arm that they repeat the gk104/gk110 cycle, with the 880 being small die.

People seem to forget that GK110 was in the enterprise market for a good amount of time, before it came to the enthusiast market.
