[wccftech] GeForce 800 Series Arrives in Second Half of 2014 - Page 90

Fanboys are fanboys, whether they are recruited by the companies themselves or arrive at those conclusions of their own accord, the end result is still much the same. And honestly, if AMD has a site dedicated to the naming of these supposed advocates how can they be claimed to be doing so in secret?

Clearly, you have no idea what you're talking about. I suggest you get informed before commenting.

Which Intel & NVIDIA are funding, right? rolleyes.gif

I tell it how it is, nothing more, nothing less.

I can however 100% confirm that I don't receive FREE hardware in exchange for my opinion, not everybody around here can say the same.

Just because you are oblivious to what's happening, doesn't mean a major issue isn't going on, which is affecting a lot of our Tech Forums.

The fact is, many reputable forums are banning these people if they do not disclose their affiliation in sig. OCN should follow suit. Period.

Perception is everything.

Lol, I tell it how it is too, only I'm on record vigorously defending and savaging both brands as I've seen fit which makes me quite a bit different from you. That said, I still see no difference in someone blindly bleating about one company or another for free rather than for coin? Its all "six of one and half a dozen of the other" as far as I'm concerned.

Kinda where I am on it. I mean for forums and posters like us, don't see the harm. But as far as reviewers or say those that others look to for technical info. Say Shilka for example here on OCN. It would be a serious issue for him to be getting paid in any form for reviews of products in any outcome. But say any random poster, well I guess there could be issues with bad info.

I guess I am curious about whether they are directed to lie or only give positive info and where it is they are supposed to do these things. The first is bad but the second is in no way a terrible thing. Like Majin said, I take anything anyone says with a grain of salt. It is the discretion of the reader to decide in a public forum. However if a reviewer is found to be doing such things, shoot em, well fire em and maybe sue em.

Online Advocate Marketing

Our research indicates that consumers are highly persuaded by online experts and personalities, hence AMD’s advocacy marketing focus. These key influencers are AMD technology enthusiasts that are well respected in their communities: Twitter, Facebook, forums, blogs, etc. At AMD, we run specific marketing programs for our advocates and are always looking to identify and build those relationships. For example, we may run a promotion featuring a great new AMD product, the winner of which might receive not only a product sample but also tickets to a great show or event, or maybe even the opportunity to attend a product launch. We understand that more and more often people are turning to influencers in their online communities rather than the spiffed or commission based in-store sales person. Consumers are seeking advice from the very experts and personalities that we target. This is an example of not only aligning the troops but also providing the perfect tactic on the chosen battlefield. All of us in technology have learned to live by the saying that the only constant is change – you either embrace it or get a new career. Marketers once paid for ads in the phone book or started company names with AAA to be the first in a section of the Yellow Pages. Now we focus on page rankings in search engines or positive product reviews on the front pages of well-respected review sites. The days of creating and mailing promotional and informational videos are over. Today we post them on YouTube and hope that they go viral. Customers now feel unarmed if they enter the battle field without stockpiles of research. At AMD, we are not only aligning resources to this trend, we are storming the online castle, kindling the fire of change, and making new friends, Facebook friends.

David Kenyon is the Corporate Vice President of Worldwide Business Management and Channel Marketing at AMD.

Anyway, back to the 800-series.

I think all the stuff about there being no 20nm GPUs is complete garbage. "16nm" finfet is just too far away at this point. Maxwell has shown that NV can extract a ton of extra potential on 28nm but 20nm still offers good benefits.
