btw did you order it from Eu site? Or any other European site? I have big expectations on alcor... I just hope I am not going to be disappointed with it... I don't mind the 3090 avago..

Yea I do know the acceleration is from the sensor itself hence I said "hardware acceleration". I was told by someone that the ADNS9800 used in the Mizar is different from others as the 9800 in the Mizar is produced by Avago and the others in the market are by Pixart. I doubt it will have any difference at first since Pixart bought over Avago but seeing how strong the hype was for the Mizar I decided to hope for the best and try it out myself. Not that I'm disappointed with the acceleration though as it feels insignificant to me.

I didn't go with the Alcor because it was using the 4000DPI ADNS3090 rom (same as the Kana V2, which I own) and I absolutely hate it. Reason being it has too much smoothing and feels laggy. It probably shares the same ROM as the Kana V2 because it has the annoying high LOD like the Kana V2 as reported by other users.

I'm from Singapore and bought it from a store locally. AFAIK, CM products tend to appear on the shelves earlier in Asia than other regions.

There have been rumours that this mouse does not have the positive acceleration like other ADNS9500/9800 mice in the market, but sadly to say the hardware acceleration is still present in the Mizar.

This is, however, not the main issue here. The main issue is CM Storm does not even bother trying out their software before publishing it up on their websites. Both their firmware updater and software does not even work, so I'm stuck with the default settings, I couldn't turn down the LED brightness or turn off the LEDs, couldn't change the polling rate, couldn't change the DPI steps.

All of these important tweaks aren't even working on the software. What more is that it's been a week since they released the software and still they have not realised that their software isn't even working and publish updated ones that work instead. Disappointed.

I don't think that the 4000dpi rom is that bad ! G400 had no smoothing that i could feel nor roccat savu !
There is still hope, do you remember the ninox aurora ? when bst showed around some pics of his software, you could see that there was a smoothing toggle along the angle snapping toggle !!

There's also a very knowledgeable brazilian guy in geekhack who states that alcor uses a pretty much perfected 3090 firmware and a much better MCU than spawn, I say we need more user reviews before we start bashing it smile.gif

I think the shipping costs might have been adjusted recently it's much lower now than the first time I checked.

hi blackmesatech, thanks for replying, I think i'm going to wait a few days since I think they're going to arrive to my local shops, so no need to pay 17€ for shipment :-)
Also I don't know if I'll buy it or wait until v2 with new 3310 sensor.. (I guess it's going to have that sensor.. )
Any ETA on the new version yet? One more month? Two?

would love to try an alcor but no 400dpi setting = NOPE. If it had drivers in which i could set a "400 dpi" setting that would be acceptable i suppose but o well best stick with my Kana's
post #79 of 180
I really hope when they revise the Alcor they adjust the sensor position accordingly. As of now, it really suffers from precision unless you want to lower your sensitivity more than you should to compensate.
With their butt for that mold, 64-65mm from the base would make it pretty much perfect, but this statement is useless if they fail to realize optimal sensor positions for a practical grip. Fingers crossed though!

Alcor Firmware Pack V1.0 out: http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/peripherals/alcor/

Check downloads section. Mine is up to date so I assume this is what the mice shipped with.
