With their butt for that mold, 64-65mm from the base would make it pretty much perfect, but this statement is useless if they fail to realize optimal sensor positions for a practical grip. Fingers crossed though!
So Nilizum, alcor's sensor isn't dead center like it should be?
Or does it suffer from other issues?

It is minutely off center. Like 1 or 2mm off center.

the verdict where the best position for the sensor is, is not spoken actually.

Excuse me, but does this look '1 or 2mm ' off center? It is more off center than the WMO if not the same positioning. This WILL result in a huge loss in precision, more so than the AM or FK. Do some math, if the Alcor is 124.8mm, and the sensor position is higher than AM/FK which is roughly around the same length, guesstimate how far up it is. Definetely NOT 1-2mm... More like ~5+ mm which IS a big deal. When an average mouse is 125 mm, every mm matters.

CM Storm really has a chance to make a really good mouse here, but this sensor position is really killing it at the moment. WMO's shape justified its sensor position for claw grippers using a non-orthodox grip clawing it higher, but as an ergonomic mouse the Alcor doesn't have that luxury as ergonomic shape forces an optimal grip in accordance to their shape. Given an orthodox grip, the current sensor position is FAR from efficient/optimal. I mean, you can try to use a non orthodox grip and grip it higher, but it most likely will not be as comfortable.

Again, fingers crossed, as this mouse is very exciting to enthusiast consumer gamers, and they have a chance to fix it... (If they read this thread LOL)

It is spoken of in post #79. For Alcor's shape, 64mm-65mm from the bottom.

Oh, and here is another problem. See how the thumb slant/indent ends in accordance with where the sensor position is? That is a common design factor in ergonomic shaped mice in this style. I do not know how well the mouse will feel in terms of form factor to performance IF they by a miracle change the sensor position, but in terms of OPTIMAL form factor they would have to adjust the thumb slant/indent to the sensor position which would mean a new mold.

So I guess, even with fingers crossed, it might not be that realistic for them to make any further adjustments. I think they will just put in that new sensor and be done with it. Too bad though...

Here is the Alcor with an optimal sensor position:

I doubt they're going to alter the shell to change sensor position now. They already have 2 functional PCBs in production with the sensor higher up. Cheaper for them to keep using the shell design already established.

There might not be a need for a new mold as EC2 for example has their sensor right below where the slant ends. They can really make this work by just adjusting the sensor position. Their mold really works at the moment, from what I have seen, just NOT the sensor position.

Oh well guess this mouse isn't going to be "perfect" afterall...
I guess i'll pass... frown.gif

Its like they dont even want to earn money, by catering to the massive amount of IME 3.0 users, Hahahaha

Im not even sure wether to cry or laugh, almost every single good fps player prefers 400/450 DPI Step, the amount of people that buys mice that pro gamers prefers is staggering, and yet they chose to not give us the 400/450 DPI step

Its official, my sides has reached orbit and are now. Purely ballistic biggrin.gifbiggrin.giflachen.gif

Why does sensor position matter?
