Im wondering if the copper ones will so any better. Ill bench mine before installing the kraken g10+copper heatsinks. Btw where do i download the benchmarking program yor useing i have 3dmark something or another lol

It's the best one out there I've been told by several.

The VRAM seems fine with the aluminum heat sinks, although I can't measure for exact temps. The VRM is what's concerning me. I have an H100i (which is dual rad) and the H55 (single rad) in a Phantom 410 without any space issues. Just make sure that you use asetek coolers like the H55, that's the one where the block/pump looks like a * instead of a square.

Ah the VRM, hadn't seen that abbreviation before, sorry smile.gif

Well, having a 750W PSU (in my case), I guess should be enough to cover it? A H105 for the GPU and a G60 for the CPU.

once again:

I wish i would have ordered more copper heatsinks for the VRMS. I guess before ill wait to put mine together until i get more heatsinks, I imagine if i leave that strip of thermal tape(the one you left on and then took off when i mentioned something) and just put a line of copper heatsinks alone it, should be fine.

So I've got a bit of an update for you guys, some of it good news, some of it just "meh" but kinda cool. First the good news: I took out my video card to remove the thermal strip over the VRM's to check if that helped with the cooling. When I removed it, I realized that one of the screws holding the bracket down had come loose. I tightened it up as well as tightening the other screws as well. I just checked my temps, and my idle temps dropped from 30C to 24C.... BIG difference. That's the good news, here's the "meh" news. Just to clean things up, I took some pliers and removed the plastic header off of the video cards pcb, and plugged the G10 fan straight into my video card. It works great! Here's a picture of the plugged in fan, and I also twisted the rad around and it seems to relieved some of the stress on the tubing. I'll rebench and see if I can get a better score. Sorry guys :/

So I had an idea. I ordered 8 copper VRAM heat sinks, and 8 more aluminum ones, and am going to try cooling the VRM's with them. I took the thermal pad and placed it on the back of the videocard where the VRM's would be on the flip side. I then placed quarters over on the pad to act as temporary heat sinks. When my new heat sinks come in, I'm going to attach the copper ones to the VRM's themselves under the fan, and then stick the aluminum ones on the thermal strip above them, and then flip the radiator fans so they're blowing air over the top heat sinks. I think all of this will fix our issue! Now it's back to waiting....

i used copper ones on my 4gb model on the real..there not gonna fall off if you pressed them with nice firm pressure and hold for a bit to let the tape "set"

Yeah i ordered the copper ones also did you put the copper heatsinks on your VRMS or just leave them naked. For now i only ordered 16 copperheat sinks for the VRAMS but didn't think about the VRMS.

On another note i was looking over my card because i replaced my power supply and took my GPU out to re route all my wires so the back of my case would shut easier and noticed that on my Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB my VRMS run the opposite way of gopackersjt. I have the Rev.2 model so that's why i think its different because instead of the VRMS going left to right my look like they go up and down. I haven't taken it apart yet just looked at how the stock heatsink ran.

On another side side note: You plugged your 3pin fan into the 2 pin fan header on your card......I have seen reports of that totally frying the GPU board, your not worried about this? Also does it throttle the fan to the GPU temperature like the stock fans?

hey guys, Just throwing this out there but to cool my vrms/mem im goign to be using the backside cooler that came with my acclero turbo3. there was a post of a guy that used it on his r9 290 and it droped the vram temps by a nice margin.I also may modifie my 780sc baseplate that is used to cool the vram and memory.
