Roughly $1300, minus the GTX 770, around $1000.

That rig listed above is my current rig. I got the 650 the first time around so that it was open to future upgrades.

Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer - $119.99 @ Newegg.com
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K - $295.00 @ Amazon.com
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 8GB DDR3 2400 - $73.80 @ Newegg.com
GPU: PNY GTX 770 XLR8 Enthusiast Edition 4GB - $373.99 @ Amazon.com
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 EVO 250GB - $156.99 @ Newegg.com

Total: $1019.77

You didn't say you needed a new case or PSU. So there's still $300 left for that if you feel the itch for a new PSU and Case (more than enough, if you need me to fill those in for you I can).

Definitely get an SSD about 256GB and double the RAM to at least 8GB. Personally I prefer, where possible, to buy used parts on ebay from reputable sellers with plenty of positive feedback but thats up to you. My current laptop (Dell Inspiron 17 SE) had good specs already but when I installed an OCZ Vertex 3 from my desktop the boot time is literally 9 seconds from pressing the power button.

Thanks for that list. I might go with that but switch out the Motherboard. Heard a lot of people have terrible experience in getting a replacement in the event of a DOA.

Any other suggestions would be great as well.

They sell processors really cheap there. Probably pick up a 4770k from them for under $260
