Some people value the opposite; noise levels over fan performance, and some want a good balance between the two- which Noctua fans are great at.

Although you can find comparable fans for lower prices that aren't that god awful color scheme. You obviously love Noctuas, I hate them.

Regarding my post the whole point was pay attention to what you're using them for. Anything under 30dbs from inside the tower will be almost completely inaudible at 1m, and definitely inaudible at 1m with speakers or headphones on. Further... the noise figures represent max noise levels when you run the fans maxed out... which truth be told very few people ever do that 24/7... If someone has to run their fans full tilt throughout their tower to keep temps down, they're probably pushing the system too hard or need to consider a better cooling solution.

Yes I have Corsair SP120s in push/pull on an H100i. No I've never seen my fan speed for them go above about 45-50% (about 1400 rpm and maybe 25db), and which speed they are still very quiet. And since their on a rad, their higher static pressure is what made me get them with noise a secondary concern.

Are you OCing your CPU? How does the H100i stack up? I will most likely go with the SP120s as you did. Seems the most common set up.

Comparable in that they're both fans, other than that you will struggle to find comparison.

And I have NF-F12s on my H100i.

The NF-F12s spinning @ 1500RPM give 2.61mm/H20 static pressure @ 22dB
The SP120s spinning @ 1450RPM give 1.29mm/H20 static pressure @ 23dB

As you brought up noise and fan speed, the Noctua fanss knock the Corsairs fans out the ball park in terms of performance! (~both running at same fan speed and noise levels).

Since you seem to be Mr. Handy Dandy with a stat for everything, what was your method of measuring and recording such? Just curious because I'm interested in knowing how exactly you arrived at the above noise and pressure numbers. Also, were they the SP120 Quiet Edition or High Performance edition?

That's a nice attitude you have Mr.

The Corsair and Noctua spec sheets, where else? rolleyes.gif
If you want to ignore the facts and figures then that is your prerogative.

yea heres the review again in case anyone wondering i posted on the first page, http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1345-page7.html

phantek won by small margins but the noctua apparently has the smoothest sound. that says something about their blades i guess,
Im a warranty kind a guy so i prefer noctua but i can understand other people not liking the brown color, you could always paint it, i seen teksyndicate show how to spray paint graphics card shrouds, takes some kind of special paint, cant remember what its called
