Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Advice

Thread Starter

Hey there! I'm currently updating my peripherals after a series of faults.

At present I have a Logitech G510 keyboard. I've been a fan girl of Logitech for years and appreciate their after sales support. My G510 is less than 2 years old and has been giving me endless troubles. I've had to RMA the board twice, only to have the replacement board give me trouble.

Anyway I'd like to purchase a Mechanical keyboard and using it for gaming - primarily FPS and MMO games. I'd like my future board to have the following qualities:

  • A firm, stable, non-wobbly, fixed or attachable wrist support
  • A keyboard made out of plastic and mostly metal that's solid
  • Back lighting - 1 color or many colors makes no difference
  • NO side Macro "G" keys
  • A larger keyboard with evenly spaced keys - much like the Logitech G510
  • The ability to customize/remove the switches and the ability to find aftermarket switches in various colors
  • Good after sales support - preferably with a telephone number and email address that can be contacted should I have a problem
  • Price is not an issue

So with the above in mind, could you guys PLEASE recommend something for me?

Thanks!

Which kind of MX switches do you prefer?
Also do you mind buying a wrist wrest seperetly?
Do you want a numpad?

There are some good mechanical keyboard brands, but if you would ask this questions it would be a bit easier smile.gif
Also try to ask in the mechanical keyboard club or guide here on OCN, they know almost everything and can recommend you something.

Hey there! Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to check out those threads!

I would prefer to have the Wrist wrest come with the keyboard. Alternatively if someone could recommend a decent Wrist wrest, I'd reconsider things...

As for switched, I'd prefer either  Red or Brown.

I'd prefer a Number pad if possible. I don't think I'd survive without one.

There are the Ducky Shine keyboards, but it comes with no wrist wrest. I got the Ducky shine 3 with MX black and love it!
Though Ducky make a very good quality wrist wrest one you can buy.
Some of the Corsair K keyboards are also an option, but I don't know much about them.

I just wanted to say a very big thank you to everyone for their recommendations. I managed to try out a Corsair K70 and am really blown away by the look and feel of the board. Its solid and just what I was looking for. Ordered mine this morning and it should arrive by Friday.
