[DT] Aria, A Sexy Pair of Luxury Gaming Headphones - Page 3

Sorry but I doubt they would be able to hold their own against the HD600/650 at that price point or even the Hifiman He-400. Headphones at a much higher price point such as the He-500/T1/HD800 and others will be able to produce a far superior sound in many aspects.

As for Japanese headphones Stax is the most remarkable however the need for a special electrostatic amplifier is a big weakness. That means you cannot use it with a normal headphone amplifier and will need to invest thousands for a decent amp.

Electrostatic amps are just high voltage (300V?), low current headphone amps, right?. I don't know why they're so expensive, building a tube amp like that shouldn't be too hard.

Also, sound quality is totally subjective. You could give someone some electrically ideal, completely neutral headphones, and they might prefer their old colored cans biggrin.gif

Somehow I'd feel more confident with a pair of HiFiman HE-400/500..

It's got elements of Japanese construction so the build quality will be decent.

But, even the best non-electrostat Japanese headphones can't stand up to the God Tier German headphones. teaching.gif

That is so true, the main reason why I own a pair of the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro.

Looks a bit like my JVC DX1000 tbh. If they sound as good for 3 times less cash then its a great deal.

for 350 i would want to try first and sound is one of those things where everybody has different view on whats good to excellent biggrin.gif

I doubt they will sound as good as the "average" headphone in that price range.
Luxury stuff are generally not worth the money anyway.

The German's HD800's a force to be reckoned with. Can more than hold it's own against any Japanese high end pair of cans.

What about Audeze?
Stax is not for everyone, neither is HD800s, they are more for old people who listen to classical music (yeh im sort of joking tongue.gif).
Audeze in the other hand, got a much more likeable sound, and the LCD-X improves that even more. Its also american!
