I wonder why I rarely see any TPC-812. They are supposed to dissipate an extreme amount of heat, I imagine your APU can't even get it to warm up much.

With the stock fan (which is insanely quiet, err rather slow) it didn't get too high in the 40s during my tests so far, my room is warming up though since the weather is getting better and I have more mining rigs smile.gif

So what's the word? Does this board deserve the name "Gaming"? Does it OC to a level that justifies the $120.00 price tag?

Edit: BTW, I am not bashing the board, just curious. And up till the point I have been let down with the bait and switch that was so smoothly executed by MSI, I was dead set on buying one of these. I just don't know if it is worth the price tag premium over the competition due to the fact that Gigabyte and ASRock both have very similar boards already. It also lets me down on the inside that the previous gen board has a higher phase count, and other than the audio and NIC, has every other feature of the board, all while costing less than $90.00 when it released. Which I own currently.

Side Edit/note: Do you feel like with AMD incorporating "True Audio" on the CPU/GPU's, do you feel there is a benefit to the extra audio features that the board has, or do you feel it is marketing? If you wish to reply to any of this via PM due to the standing relationship to MSI, I promise to keep it a secret! wink.gif

Their is definitely something different about the VRM's on this thing, When the reviewer removes the heatsink over the VRM's, their is clearly more then 2 voltage regulating transistors per phase.

Would love to know more about those transistors, sadly I can't make out any writing on the transistors from the provided images.

Guys,

What do you think about this memory kit(s) ?

http://www.radeonmemory.com/gamer_series_R9.php

I will grab 2x8, will be OK to grab RAM directly from AMD, or should I consider other manufacturers ? I saw somewhere here that 2400 MHz will be very good for A10-7850k, so just thinking about good RAM.

Can't wait longer to see mATX A88XM Gaming... only board with DisplayPort and cooled VRMs without ugly gold color (ASUS...).

Just bought my memory from their, the 2x8 2400, i will order mobo and processor Thursday when i get paid.

I am trying to source a RAM kit or two from a friend to see if I can do better on the memory since I think it is my kit holding me back after a long time spent trying to go past a certain point.

agrims - I will go back and check on that - I have been busy and have had a lot on my plate with things I need to do - so it has taken longer to build down and condense what I should post. I usually have done a regurgitated a crap tone of tests and I want to focus on what the board excels at and not put off people by just doing a large dump of things. Trying to do this as I prepare to start reviewing reviewing hardware for a test site so I am beating myself up over how I present info and how I write - too wordy like this - ugh

PDF overview of the Intersil ISL6377 that this board uses.

Its the voltage regulating transistors that have me curious. 22(16 for cpu and appears to be 6 for the nb) of those bad boys on this thing, making this board a ?8+3?!?

Start with just letting it flow naturally, don't try to correct yourself in the first write up, sometimes wordy isn't bad. After your first write up go through and look for wild tangents, or stuff that looks like its running on and start with pairing down/rewording their. Nothing wrong with projecting your opinion into a review either, Some of the best reviewers, are opinionated and that makes an important part of their brand as a reviewer.

Sorry for the slow going guys - I am trying to get a better kit of RAM to get higher clocks to test with... I have also had some health issues come up the last couple of weeks and long story short, I now have to wear a heart monitor the next month. Trying not to spend hours at the computer like I normally do when I test a computer to try and avoid some stress. I used to go up to 11 hours straight when I tested or did Xtreme OC.
