I will, because I'm not going to sit here and not enjoy a game because it's not the prettiest. That's a bit ridiculous.

You must be lucky then. Mine used to crash at least once a day, crashed when I would pull my microphone out of controller, games dont save, etc etc.

The only problem I have had so far is, during the Titanfall Beta weekend. When I'd try to leave the beta without leaving the game first, my video would go black and I'd have to hard reset the console to get it back. Otherwise, I have trouble with the Kinect understanding my commands at time, probably because I lived in Texas for 15 years and can sound a little redneck at times.

Yeah, I know. And I agree. But that kind of came out of left field, I don't think even the most ardent console fan would argue that their favorite console can keep up with a beefy PC in the graphics department.

The point is if game is good then having even better GFX should provide better experience. If the game is not good then even uber GFX will not save it from judgement.

Better graphics could improve the experience. Some games get no real benefit from ever higher resolutions...how would Civilization 6 be made better by upping the graphics ante over Civ5? Answer: it won't, it's wasted effort that they should put into the gameplay.

Hardware wise you can already assemble today a PC from off the shelf parts that will offer better performance than the XBOne. Takes some compromises but it can be done. Granted - the people at whom the console is aimed are not the kind to go and assemble their own PC's.

Careful, I resemble that remark...I've been building my PCs for years, but I still have owned every console ever made (until now, skipping Wii U and probably PS4).

PC gaming and console gaming are not mutually exclusive. I always say that real gamers play any game, and that includes any platform. I go where the games are, I don't really give a whit what the silicon running that game looks like.

microsoft made a great htpc when htpcs are dying. there's just no need for a traditional htpc anymore with everything moving to the cloud. all you need is a chromecast and your smartphone gives you a better ui than any console could. your smartphone or laptop is now the ultimate remote. that is my 2 cents at least

I was not aiming that "typical console users" stuff at you specifically, sorry if it sounded like that. What I was aiming at is that consoles are aimed, as far as I can see, at different consumer than your typical PC gamer consumer segment. It takes certain amount of passion and interest to assemble the PC that can meet or beat current console hardware at the same price envelope. A "typical console user" is not interested in assembling his own gaming PC. Clearly there can be people who have both but I would not consider them "typical" users.

As far as Civilization example goes I can note that having higher resolution screen actually does add to the experience in that kind of games as it allows you to see a larger map area without scrolling. Most games, unless specifically prevented on developer side (like, for example Dota 2) allow you to see more content without scrolling/turning on wider screens. Dota 2 has been specifically locked by design so that multiple screen people do not have "unfair" advantage of seeing larger area than people playing at minimum supported resolution. One of the reasons I don't play it - bcos as a result the game looks crap at 5400x1920 and I dont feel it's worth it to start setting up custom profiles in CCC extra for that game. Overall though I can see the point you are trying to make that there can be some games where higher GFX settings are not meaningful for the game experience or even where having "8 bit" GFX is designed to be a part of game experience like in some of the indy "retro" games.
