AMD Catalyst™ 14.2 Beta V1.3 - Page 12

Could you please mention the fan speed not reported anymore on R9 290 - and possibly some others GC ?

Thanks!

Well that didn't last long... I was in the middle of a YouTube playlist and not even sitting at my desk when my primary monitor started going crazy with colored lines. I was able to restart without doing a hard-boot because my second monitor was still displaying properly (strange!). Anyways, I need to roll back to the latest stable drivers because these BETA drivers do not work well under 8.1 apparently. UGH! I was really enjoying the FPS boost I was getting in BF4 too!

How about to disable hardware acceleration?

I actually never considered trying that... I will do so and report back. Like I said, I love the performance I get out of the BETAs, but I need to be able to watch my videos without being worried of a display crash every few hours.

Hmmmm... I don't want to speak too soon, but you may be onto something here with the hardware acceleration. Since I have turned it off on Chrome my battlescreen has not glitched out like it was before on 14.2. I wonder if that could have had something to do with the stuttering that I was getting after "tabbing-out" to my second screen. I will do some further testing and post back... but I just had the smoothest round of BF4 I have played to date! WOW! +REP

This is at stock, or slightly overclocked Elpida memory (1500mhz). Dammit Elpida.

Yes. Absolutely. I didn't have it at first but for the past couple days I would full system crash every ~hour in BF4 and every ~10 minutes in APB:R. Went back to 13.12

Since then I have uninstalled with the latest DDU in safemode and reinstalled again... so far so good; but it has only been about 48hrs.

Hi guys,

So that I'm perfectly clear, the issue you're experiencing is with Win 8.1? What happens when you revert back to 13.12?

Yes (Windows 8.1).... when I reverted back I did not experience any issues with YouTube or WMP playback. It should also be noted that the same thing happened on the previous beta driver as well. Its seems like the issue doesn't pop up right away, but rather after the driver has been installed for a while headscratch.gif I have had it happen while playing a video on YouTube and while playing a MKV using WMP. What I am experiencing is not "freezing" though... my primary display starts displaying crazy colors & lines but I can still hear the video playing the background. In almost all instances I am able to use my second display to restart my computer (because the display is still perfectly fine). Sometimes if I give it 10-20 seconds it will stop glitching out on its own, but it is hit or miss when it happens.

I have now disabled hardware acceleration in Chrome, Flash, & WMP and am again testing 14.2

Hey Warsam71,

Thanks for taking an interest! In my case it was with Windows 8, non 8.1. After reverting to 13.12 I haven't been having the issue but I honestly only have a few hours of testing in so it's too early to be certain

For those who are having problems that do not have to do with overclocking try and install the latest 14.2 right over your installation of 14.2 and it seems to have solved a few problems for people on other forums.

As for the overclocking I really hope AMD gets their ish together as soon as possible because right now afterburner is broken and for us overclockers this is not a good situation.
