MIONIX AVIOR 7000 First Impressions/Review - Page 50

Thread Starter
The Avior 7000 is awesome, as I mentioned in the OP. Some people have indeed had issues with accidentally brushing the right side buttons, but my grip avoids that pretty much entirely unless I have to make a very difficult shot in BF4 and my grip shifts during it. In normal use in a fingertip style, with floating palm, I never touch them.

I'm an 'every-grip' user, as in I use whatever feels naturally comfort (sorry, that sounds kinda pretentious). That's what drew me to the Avior: it seemed to accept many playing styles. The Naos 7000 might be one to reconsider if you keep accidentally hitting the right-hand buttons. I just loved the shape of it and the idea of having two buttons on either side. I'm still considering it.

I have a Naos 7000 as well, but I'm a mid sense lifter, so the difficult to lift shape of the Naos doesn't really suit me. As far as the G502 goes, it is widely available at Best Buy in my local area. It does look like Amazon is back ordered, though.

Yeah, just saw that myself. There is an external cable that acts as an extension cord; maybe that's where the confusion was. No bother either way as it was good to be reminded of it. It's a definite contender.

Do not use a laser mouse again. your mind will be better getting used to a no acceleration mouse.
I'm definitely getting optical. It's just a matter of finding one that fits what I want. The Avior and G602 are at the top of the list. I definitely prefer the looks of the Avior, and I love supporting small companies that produce killer ****. Nothing against Logitech; their mouse has given me many years of gaming and computing, and their gaming section seems pretty cool and down to earth. I just love finding new companies and giving them my support. It's always nice to see the 'little guy', so to speak, succeed against the big guys. But the G602 might have the edge as far as features.

To be honest, I still haven't found a scientific reason to favour lazer over optical. I know most would say it translates to better in practise, but theoretically... why? I'm just curious to see if any of you know anything about the technology or have bookmarked any articles that detail the differences?

I'll have a look at the Kone Military. I really liked the Roccat Kone XTD. Apart from the lazer sensor and the EasyShift button that couldn't function as a back button, it was great.

What's a mid sense lifter?

I'm in Ireland so I need to find a UK or EU distributor with them in stock. Maybe the G502 shipments haven't arrived yet over here? I really can't wait a few weeks though. My poor mum has been left without a mouse and she's working on a website. I'm a terrible son sometimes. Ha!

A mid sense lifter is just another way to say that I use 800-1200DPI and constantly lift my mouse. Considering the way I play games, it actually feels like it's in the air as much as it's on my mouse pad. wink.gif

Okay, maybe not that bad, but it's pretty bad.
I think I play like that as well. My desk doesn't allow for very much space so I do a lot of lifting. Because I've used a lazer mouse I've become accustomed to lifting quite high so that the sensor doesn't track my movement. I imagine I won't have to lift anywhere near as high with optical. This is going to be a weird transition. hah!

The G602 is actually the same price, exactly, as the Avior. There are cheaper prices but they either don't ship to Ireland or are from eBay sellers and I'd rather avoid them if I can.

Actually, Opticals are more apt to high lift off distances than lasers for the most part. Mice like the Deathadder 3.5G and certain firmware revisions on the CM Storm Spawn could have you lifting the mouse 4.5mm to stop tracking.

I actually have a massive desk and mouse pad, but still lift like I'm working in a small cubical. Not sure why I play like that. Just always have.

This will get you started.

Roccat Kone Pure Military isn't released yet, but it will be an addition to the Pixart PMW3310DH mice in the market.

The Easy Shift button can be reassigned to a back button in the software and an optical XTD is coming out later this year. I love the XTD and I suspect the optical version will be a fantastic mouse. But for now I love my Corsair M45 so I may not have much need for an optical XTD after all, heh.

Are you sure you can do that? I don't mean to be the disagreeable newcomer, but there was a review I read that something in the way of "it was weird adjusting to having a button I've used for over a decade function as a different control". And I also read on the LinusTechTips forum about a user who had issues using it as a back button. He might have been able to map the 'Backspace' button on the keyboard to the Back button on the mouse, though.

An optical Kone XTD would be the cats pyjamas, and if the EasyShift can be mapped to function as a back button in a 'web-browsing' profile, that would be even more awesome.

I thought it was the other way around? I thought lazer mice could function further away from the surface while optical mice require a very flat surface and a close proximity to it?
