MIONIX AVIOR 7000 First Impressions/Review - Page 100

The Avior does have onboard memory for one profile. And yes if you think the Avior is heavy, the G502 will redefine heavy mouse for you.

Go with something much lighter like an FK.

We'll see. I'm also considering the IME 3.0 which is really cheap and readily available for me. About more than half the price of the G502. But since I'm using a laptop and Windows 8 I'm not sure if I can run it at 500Hz which I've heard is recommended. So yeah... It's a toss up at this point. If I get either the IME 3.0 or the G502 I'll most definitely sell the Avior so it won't be a huge loss either way.

AFAIK you still can't overclock the usb port in windows 8. In my opinion that means all of the old microsoft mice are a no go with this operating system. The only way you can use those microsoft mice overclocked in windows 8 is if you have one of the msi/asrock? motherboards that come with a gaming USB port that allows you to raise the polling rate of that port.

But again, saying the Avior is too heavy and then buying the G502 is like me saying how much I despise cold weather and then packing up my life to move to Alaska.

The IME 3.0 definitely won't run be able to run at 500hz on win8 or 8.1.

I guess you don't like the Zowie FK?

Damn, a no go then. I'll just settle for the G502. Give it a squeeze at a store and hope it fits me like a glove. Otherwise I'll just stick to the Avior until the next best thing comes.

The 3.0 is extremely limited in use. Its PCS is very low relative to modern sensors and so is its CPI, so it fills a very specific niche of sensitivity. Too high a sens, and the CPI isn't enough. Too low, and you'll hit neg accel every time you try to do a flickshot. That said it has the minimum postprocessing of any sensor ever made to my knowledge, and I can mostly confirm that from my own experiences with a WMO. The other thing is, are you sure the 3.0 is light enough?

EDIT: looks like people also mentioned the polling rate issue.

Why not an EC1 EVO? That's a great mouse.

Again, the weight is bothersome but shape is far more important to me and the Avior isn't very comfortable during long sessions which is always so...

Edit: I'll jot down a note about Zowie EC1 Evo and FK. Seems like solid choices from what I've heard.

I don't really know it too well. The only ones I'm familiar with are Logitech and Mionix.

Do you claw or palm grip?

G502 / Ec evo = palm grip
Avior / FK = claw grip

That might help narrowing your options.

A bit of all depending on how cramped my hand is at the time but normally I either fingertip or palm.

Yeah, this. The Avior is a fingertip and claw mouse, as is the FK. I fingertip and the FK and Avior are very comfortable, but the FK fatigues less over time due to its weight. The EC1 is very light for a palm mouse, weighing in at just 97g. It's not that much ligher than the Avior, though.
