Finished w/ the wire management. As usual, I'm not too anal about wire-management, though I try to keep it neat and tidy. All the fans fire up but one of them had a good whine to it at load. Turns out it was the 120mm. All the 140s (30 of them) are super quiet at full and dead at 40% power, but this sole 120 is pretty loud. Almost like the CM R4s i had. Well, i have a couple of channels open on the controller, so that sole 120 will be on its own channel. I'm very impressed w/ cougar 140 fans, they're so yummy quiet XD.

love cougar fans. I am glad to hear your 140s are whisper quiet but slightly concerned about the 120. I have previously only used the orange/black cougars and was very impressed with their performance. my current favorite fan and I've tried out alot of different types/brands. I'm hoping the green 120's I'm using live up to the expectations I have.

Looks great up and running sonic.gif

I personally don't like the messy tubing, but otherwise this build is just epic thumb.gif

How much do the cougars differ from NB blacksilents or gentle typhoons? have you tried them?

I might rma the 120 just in case. Even at 40% power there's a slight hum to it. No as quiet as the 140s. i would say the 140s at 100% are a little bit more quiet (all 30 of them) vs the 120 @ ~50% power. Its only one fan so I'm hoping newegg can replacement quickly. If its the same with the replacement, then I know its just the way they work.

The mb area? Yeah, its a love/hate thing. Its very busy since you have two ram blocks, two mb blocks, and the cpu block. I looked at quite a few setups similar to mine to get an idea of plumbing it. Its challenging but I do like. I just don't like using way too many angled adapters to run straight lines. I switched from 1/2x3/4 to 3/8x1/2 since the former was too big and putting a lot of strain on the system.

Personally, the 140 Cougars are dreamy. The 120, I'm not sure if I have a dud or not since there's an audible whine/hum to it. Gonna rma it w/ newegg and see what the replacement does. If you're going w/ 120 fans, go with GTs, especially since they were decommissioned by Scythe and its oem.

The mobo area could look nicer if the rest of the loop was super clean, just my two cents. rolleyes.gif

Sorry, I don't have the anal ocd attention to detail some builds have. I know guys who spend days if not weeks on one little detail of their build. I don't and I don't need too wink.gif. If you're seen my previous builds, they're not ultra perfectly detailed. And that's how I like em thumb.gif.

edit:

Btw, your rig needs some work on your cable management, my 2cents.gif

I think you could fit another MB in there and have a dual computer beast. all kidding aside, your latest rig is becoming the mother of all your rigs build. keep up the great work so I have some inspiration.
