win 8.1 won't download help

I've searched and read quite a few of the 8.1 iso download posts with nothing that helps......Everything tells me to go here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

Well it makes me put in my keygen.....then says "File Not Downloaded" and says "invalid data" underneith that.

I attempted this download on my laptop (windows 7 HE) and my new build (currently has 7 Pro just to attempt to download 8.1).

I purchased 8.1 pro off of the microsoft website last night (for some reason the local microcenter didn't have any 64 bit versions). I already talked to tech support and gave them remote access to my laptop to attempt to get it to download. After about an hour of that the guy told me to try another computer. SO I put an old copy of 7 on my new build so I could get online to attempt to download it directly to this computer.

Any suggestions to possibly get this to download? Or any other possible ways to download the file other than through microsoft?

Is it an upgrade key or full version?

Just torrent it?, it's not illegal if you own it.

Full version not upgrade.
I tried torrenting it but I can't find any that aren't part of a "Volume License" or that don't claim to already have a bogus key.

I don't understand this. Why are you attempting to download Win8.1 through other sites? Seems like to me going through Microsoft would be the most dependable and quickest way to get the full package w/out any chances of malware or corruption of file. To the poster who said you can get Windows OS via torrents - not sure that I agree that it's legal - to the contrary I would argue that it's ILLEGAL.

He has already said that he has tried for the Microsoft site, and it's not working. I guess it would be illegal as they are sharing copyrighted stoff, so ignore my other post, sorry.

Like I've said I've tried the microsoft site. I even when to a friends house and attempted to download it thru his computer and it failed. It accepts my keys....says estimating time.....then fails

Trust me I'd rather download it thru the microsoft store than attempt to find another way. But it becomes very annoying 2 days after you paid $200 for a product and you can't use the product. I think that is even more annoying than going to microcenter and them not having any oem or standard versions of the program. All they had was 32 bit and upgrades........mad.gif

OK, I have two options for you. Check out this website.
http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/70-windows-8-direct-download-links?highlight=WyJ3aW5kb3dzIiw4LCJkb3dubG9hZCIsIndpbmRvd3MgOCJd

Scroll towards the bottom of the page where it says "The Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Setup Tools". It talks about how you can download a tool that you can use to compile an Win8 ISO file.

It that doesn't work out, you always call Microsoft and tell them what's going on. They can ship you a Win8 installation disc since you're having so much trouble downloading it....probably a small fee involved for that however. I've never had to do it so I have no idea how much they would charge you but I would guess somewhere around $10-$25 at the most.

If you ordered it through the MS Store, I'm going to hazard a guess that you opted out of the $14.00 backup disk option. If that is the case you can order a disk from the MS Store.

Also please be reminded that if you only have a 32-bit version of Windows installed and you use the download option to create a windows 8 disk the resulting disk will always be a 32-bit Windows 8 iso or disk.

EDIT:

You can also give this a shot: https://www7.downloadoffice2010.microsoft.com/windows/registerkey.aspx?ref=win8&currency=USD&country_id=US&culture=en-US
