[Build Log] RGB PANDA! - LED modded Phantom 410 Photo editing rig

Hello all biggrin.gif, I thought I'd start a build log for my computer, I've been using it for almost two years now, but I've taken pictures of it during the build and development of the aesthetic parts and thought I'd start one of these threads. If anyone is interested in my LED mods jump in now, I'll eventually show more angles including details on the Kinesis LED mods if there is interest. Point now it to start a thread, and then begin from the top.

I installed all of my LEDs using no soldering, so I can share my techniques there as well. I'm not a fan of soldering so I use other methods to wire things. thumb.gif

I'd also like to showcase this in hopes of someday having a largely sponsored build, I have the photography knowledge to take good images for marketing the build, so I figure I'd be a good candidate. I'd like to do more custom work like a custom side window in the future.

The theme of the build is to have a "Panda" white and black theme, but also the RGB theme when lit up. RGB is at the heart of what I do as a photographer; since my images are captured on Red, Green, and Blue channels and also displayed the same way, I wanted to have the ability to flaunt those colors in my build. Plus, if my mood shifts from day to day, I can easily use those RGB LEDs to make my case whatever color I please.

Funny thing; I do turn them off partially when editing to not influence my eyes' interpretation of tint. In a way a lit case is exactly what I SHOULDN'T have, but whatever that's what a power button is for. rolleyes.gif

For now here's details and a few teaser images, later more after if there's interest!

Case: NZXT Phantom 410 in white
PSU: NZXT Hale 90 850w (no idea what GPU is in my future)
Mobo: P8z77-V Pro
CPU: i7 3770k - Which means HD4000 for now
HDD: 4tb HGST 7200rpm
SSD: OCZ Vertex 4
RAM: 32GB of Geil Black Dragon Ram (The RED in the RGB theme, with the red LED lights in the dragon eyes)
Screens: Pair of HP zr22w IPS 21.5" monitors
Keys: Kinesis Classic, custom lighting installed by myself.

Misc: ASUS DVD drive, Gelid fans, Extra NZXT stock fans, NZXT Hue LED controller, ebay LED controller, LOTs of LEDs on two separate channels of color.

I have interior and exterior case lighting, as well as monitor accent lighting projecting onto my desk, and a custom backlit keyboard. Monitor matches interior, keyboard matches exterior.

Here's how it sits now, suspended a bit off the desk to take advantage of the case lighting:

Here's a few pictures to show you what will come later:

AAAAnd finally, I couldn't share without a few of the THOUSANDS of photos I have made, in part, with this rig smile.gif :

Haha, so you are joking? If you are curious at all, they're fine to my eye but I haven't seen true gaming monitors. I don't game that much nor have I tried any good games on them. TF2 is the fastest-paced game I've played with my HD4000, and it seemed ok but I'd like to see how smooth a real gaming setup would be. thumb.gif
If GTA 5 comes out for PC when I can afford it I'll just slap a third screen of the same type though, I imagine it will still look great.biggrin.gif

Thank you! Yep arg0n is correct: Geil Black Dragon ram, 8GB modules. I don't think it's readily available anymore, it seemed like I got some right before they were discontinued, I couldn't even find the 1666 version, but realistically who cares.
They might have a bad module though I have to do more testing. Just finding out now that I may have been running on a glitched stick mad.gif

I read somewhere that these have LEDs on them? If so are they bright and what color are they?

Yeah if you look carefully at my images you can get an idea. The dragon eye in this model is lit by a red LED light on either end of the stick, on one face. The 5th photo has an image of them. Let me know if you find a retailer that still sells them new! thumb.gif

What do you mean exactly?

Thanks! I'm pretty happy to see they noticed it, I wonder if there's a NZXT rep on here that noticed it (xnine?) or what. Very cool though. I wonder if they'd sponsor me in a dedicated sponsor build, maybe get another build going with more documentation and dedication to details. tongue.gif
