The majority of the public's' interest all stems from paranoia.

It's internet. Meaning everyone posting is firmly believing to be equivalent of medical doctor bcos of having gone through flu recently or being a established lawyer bcos of having received speeding ticket somewhere in the past and even perhaps having read an EULA once wink.gif

Assuming you do have a psychology background and you do understand paranoia or the profile one exhibits though - I am keeping open mind if you are feeling like trying to educate me (and ofc I do sport critical thinking in regards of anything that tries to go into that open mind wink.gif). BTW I was not fully serious with the stuff following "clinically paranoid" in my statement, although in internet it can be hard to tell ofc. I though it was obvious in the light of statements like "hunting deer with their bare hands" and the like.

On a more serious note - I would not call the reason for public interest exactly a paranoia. For me paranoia is suspecting someone when you do not have a reason to suspect. In the case of public interest in privacy matters it seems to me people do have pretty good reason to suspect global firms / governments / government agencies / etc. willingly violating their rights (at least the rights they believe themselves having).

The majority of the public's' interest all stems from paranoia.

We are all paranoid in a way.... I use the name Zev online instead of Joe Smith. You can call it security or paranoia. In all honesty, if anyone tried to figure out my real name, im sure they could.

This reminds me of my argument of lazy vs efficient. I have a beard because I am either to lazy to shave every day, or that I save more time by trimming once a month vs shaving every day.

12 character password or 100 character password, they will probably get my password via a key-logger anyways.

I'm a cautious\paranoid driver for which I expect everyone in a car around me to do something stupid at any minute.

So, to conclude my statements, how it affects your lifestyle is what separates the two. IMO, Using Zev is normal, my beard looks fine, 100 character password is a bit overkill but nothing really changes, and I still drive the (maximum) speed limit. If I refuse to do something based on an excessive choice like going outside because I may get shot, that's clinically paranoid. So yes, the people who buy these phones are not truly paranoid unless they cant afford this device to a reasonable sense. If they cant pay for their house or apartment because of this, then that's probably paranoid.
