How dark? I could only get it to do it in an almost completely dark room. Talking 30 second exposure just to see through the EVF. That being said, I don't think I need to worry about panning in almost complete darkness.

i notice it indoors almost immediately...this isnt just a a77 problem. i have the same issue with olympus or any EVF.

Weird. I've used mine exclusively indoors as it's been raining and haven't noticed it. I wonder if the one you used was early firmware days? From what I understand v. 1.07 was supposed to fix a lot of performance issues.

ive had this problem with every EVF ive tried. a77, a99, a7, a7r, em1....

it could be because im so use to having optical VF....
