Can't see wireless networks! - Page 3

What is the COMPLETE Part number of that laptop? It will be something like PSLB8U-027025. Also, what version of Windows are we dealing with? And finally, what country are you from? That makes a difference on where to download them from.

Once I know that specific information I can point you to the exact driver you need..

Also make sure that you have installed the motherboard chipset drivers and Toshiba Flash Cards (possibly called Toshiba Value Added Package or TVAP for short) as on some Toshiba laptops that is the only way to turn the Wireless card on and off.

Finally, if this model came with Windows 8 from the factory and you are installing Windows 7 and it doesn't have a physical switch to turn the Wireless on/off you might not be able to get it working on Windows 7, Linux, or anything else but Win8. I've run into several Toshiba models that suffer from that problem.

If this is indeed OP's problem, the only solution might be to disassemble the laptop and replace that turd of a WiFi adapter with a better one - it's just a mini PCI-E.

That won't fix the problem. It isn't the card but the way the system is configured to have the WiFi card turned OFF by default. There is no physical switch to turn it on and no software switch (except in Win8) to turn it on so it stays off. I fought a couple of these for months and Toshiba's only response is it works in the Windows 8, the OS it shipped with so what is the problem. They simply don't get it and one of the reasons I abhor Toshiba laptops.

The only solution would be to use a USB WiFi dongle.

Buy a USB WiFi card (looks like a USB flash drive), $20 or so, and be done with it.

I had Windows 7 Ultimate x86. Then I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64. And now it's not working.

I installed the true driver, i guess. Did I do something wrong?

OK maybe this is over-simplifying the issue.... Your laptop came with 32-bit Windows 7 installed. Did you install MORE than 4GB of RAM on it? If not, you wasted your time installing x64 edition Windows. The ONLY advantage of x64 vs. x86 is support for more than 4GB of RAM.

Many older laptops that were capable of running x64 were shipped with x86 installed because they were simply faster, and had less memory overhead tied up in the OS when running the x86 version.

I'm 100% sure you have the wrong Wi-Fi driver and/or wrong Toshiba management tools installed.

My laptop has 4GB RAM. It was 3,16 GB usable when it was x86. So I installed x64 version of Windows. I'm 100% sure about I installed true drivers.
But I'm going to install Windows 7 x86 right now. I will comment here when it's done.

edit : Still same. Nothing changed.

See if the driver from the Recovery Disk Set that you created when you first got the laptop works. You did create those disks didn't you?

But something is seriously wrong here. The PSC1LE-05X00TTE comes up as a Satellite C660-2R2 from Israel which came with a RealTek WiFi card and Windows Home Basic 32bit. That goes against the information the support site lists for drivers. My advice for you is to go to Toshiba's European Support Site, enter in your system information or have it auto-detect it and see if that leads you to the correct driver. If that doesn't work, go to their forums and see what they can tell you. They would be more familiar with that model and should be able to point you to the correct driver.

You can also try going to the Qualcom/Atheros support site and downloading the WiFi driver they have for your chipset to see if that works.

Toshiba does some stupid things at times which can make finding drivers for their products a nightmare, especially for any OS that didn't come pre-installed.
