I have Vostro1500 notebook. For the last few weeks system is very slow though >10-20% RAM is free and processor usage is also <50%.
I ran HDTUNE to check my HDD.

Your drive has a bad sector. This is usually a warning that there may be problems with the drive itself. I personally replace any drive with even 1 bad sector.

Run MHDD to scan the entire surface. As it doesn't run through Windows, any driver issues or related won't affect the scan.

One bad sector isnt especially worrying, just so long as you continue to monitor and make sure you dont suddenly see an increase in bad sector count.

Run a full Error Scan of your hard drive in HDTune and report back.

There is a pretty good chance something is eating up processing power or HDD i/o if the error scan comes back ok.
What web browser do you normally use and have you scanned your system for viruses/malware recently?

Are you running in IDE mode (as configured in BIOS for SATA controller)? That may explain those dips in performance and high CPU use.

It looks like you're running XP, and if so, you need proper drivers and some registry tweaks to switch to AHCI. The performance improvement is well worth the effort.

The HD Tune results look OK. Has the performance of the system gone back to where it was? If it has, then you probably had a failing HDD. One bad sector doesn't necessarily mean the drive is in a death spiral, but I never take chances either. I go so far as to replace mechanical HDD's after a year or two of service even if they test perfectly normal. They're not that expensive, and restoring data from backups is a bigger PITA than just pre-emptively replacing the drives.

Most 500 HDD are around 100mb=150mb a second. And i thought that blue line needed to be level as possible, yours is dropping all the way down to 3mb. Seems like somethings wrong with both of them.
