Sorry didn't see this until now, that's crazy but the guy is running Furmark. I did my own testing using a kill a watt playing heaven and 3dmark and was getting nowhere near those power draws. About 1100 with 3 overclocked, overvolted cards. It's located in the 290x owners thread.

Thanks Red, but I think I'm just going to buy a CaseLabs case in the next month or so and use the spare PSU I have as a dual PSU PC. I'm just really lazy atm and don't want to tear down my build and transport it so I'm going to hold off on adding the 4th card for a little bit. It's sitting in the box still. Plus that means more time for AMD to polish it's multi gpu scaling. : )

I'm faced with a similar dilemma at the moment. For everyday gaming, a single 1600w will be enough. Even overclocked, the system will draw around 1300w from the wall, because the components aren't loaded to 100% all the time. However, during benching, I've seen my system pull as much as 1700w from the wall. That feels a little uncomfortable, so I've ordered a add2psu adapter and will play around with the spare 750w psu I have laying around.

1600w is riding the ragged edge for a 4 x 290X setup. I have had 1800w+ drawn and have 2.2kW feeding mine.
