AMD No longer a viable option for mid-high end? - Page 107

To be honest the PC performance boost between all generations is sooo minimal that saying Intel is better than AMD only stretches as far as your wallet can pour! Stock to stock of course! The avid overclockers can always pull more out of an Intel because of it's better scalability beyond 2ghz. When you lower them below their performance is quite equal.

I will make it simple, which one out of these systems will perform best in majority of games today and in the future, with only a new gpu to be upgraded? Which one out of these will also have the best posibility to be upgraded with a better cpu in the future? Lets have a simple look, because im a simple noob. I have choosen 8gb basic ram and a motherboard for around 150:- which I find is a decent price for functionality and OC abilty.

Intel system

Intel system will be able to upgrade to a used i7 4770k in the future and the AMD system will be able to upgrade to the fx9590. IS the 50 dollar differance really worth it, in terms of a gaming system? You decide...

Think of it this way. You buy an 8350 and there's no upgrade path. You buy a 4670K and you can get a 4770K down the road for more performance.

Amd has effectively given up on Socket AM3+. No chips are coming this year

wait what? 3.5ghz to 4.5ghz plus = 4770k, fx9xx 4.7ghz to 5.7ghz? Yea on ln2.

I have a very high VID ( 1.538) 9370 that has validated on an h-100 at 5740 mhz in some chilly ambients. There are much better examples out there than mine. For daily use at normal ambients on water it will pull 5.3 or better, 600 mhz over turbo or 900 over base.
70% of 4770k's top out at a 600 mhz overclock over turbo speeds.

Well, the hardcore fans do not seem interested in the said hope. Get out.
Actually you missed it then. Early on a lot of benches were posted by Cssorkinman who happens to own both AMD and Intel systems. The attempt has been made plenty, but even then there is an issue with the results to some. Again the 4770K stock-->8350 then 9590-->4770k then 8320price--> ... . It isn't as easy as that, should be. It is rather what I prefer, user results. Easy to control and alter settings, something not generally common or possible in reviews and benches.

Then make different threads pointing to separate goals in mind if you need to. Problem solved.

Bench off of dollar segments
Bench off from thread count
Bench off from Q1-Q2 and Q3-Q4 of year XXXX
Bench off from 2p systems
Bench off from 4p systems

etc etc

It would be much easier for members to read and take in a simple and cleanly administered thread.

9.9 is about what a 5.7ghz vishera would get in cb11.5.
