OK this thread has gone on too long
And Point, can I mention, why aren't we calling Intel's chips "High end garbage?".
If AMD are the cheap low performing chips then Intel's are the wallet eating chips.
My Athlon 760K is driving my HD 7870. And you could argue for gamers it's a pretty standard system for gaming. I've got my moneys worth so it's pointless for someone to try and get my to move to an I5 because I am not spending 150% more on it for it to do a few things quicker. I can go make a coffee and my Athlon would be finished by time I get back. < Reality. If your sat in front of your computer waiting to finish something (conversions, rendering) then you have too much time on your hands
go make a coffee or something, that AMD chip may do it slower but the price/performance makes it justifiable. It's not like it's going to perform like a Celeron or Athlon II (older) is it.
If your job or professional life entails something that time = money and energy costs are a concern then you can look towards something beefier, Opteron, Xeon or even a I7.
FX-8350 is the middle ground and it does something very well.Edited by mikeo01 - 3/18/14 at 5:05am
