AMD No longer a viable option for mid-high end? - Page 82

Got to agree on the Pentium remark.

It's better than the low end AMD stuff for office work and minor every day tasks, but terribly outperformed whenever heavy multi-threading and need for newer instructions come into play.

Unless you only use the system for adobe and office, avoid at all costs.

Yeah, pretty much.

Back then the "gamers" were mostly aboard the Amiga ship and such.

So can an i3. But neither are ideal in cpu intensive games/situations.

I'd take an i7 over and FX any day of the week for CFX/SLi (esp for 3+ cards) but I wouldn't touch an i3 with a 10-foot pole for the same task, it is a cut below FX for this.

If you're at 100fps instead of 50fps, you're probably hitting CPU way harder. This is when people with graphics settings turned up so that they are GPU bound will start to see the problems that other people that have turned down settings for higher FPS have been seeing the whole time - FX, even Haswell often falls short of maintaining higher FPS in recent engines. Most people don't complain because they're fine with 60 "most of the time"

well would you look at that.

What is the implication? AMD's APU design is already made completely irrelevant for anything beyond the lowest of the low end in GPU performance.

Of course. Because we all know that AMD is going to stop developing and advancing its own graphics technology immediately, and therefore will have no competitive response to something that is supposedly coming out in 2016.

*sarcasm mode off*
