[RT] Acer Releases 27-Inch WQHD 2560x1440 Display For $450 - Page 4

As long as we are diverting the topic to 4k(for some reason), I think it will find plenty market even for gaming. Finally gives us a chance to divert some of that gpu horsepower from the abomination that is anti aliasing.

I've said it once and ill say it again, if you have room to run anti-aliasing, you will benefit from a higher resolution.

Meh... my experience with Acer monitors leaves a lot to be desired... unless they've made some changes in quality, $450 is asking too much for a 1440p monitor of their brand.

The picture-perfect display also offers wide viewing angles - up to 178 degrees horizontally and vertically

I think that answers your question there. It's either IPS, VA, or some other LCD with wide viewing angles.

Be it coding, spreadsheets, CAD, or just plain better workflow; a single display with that much real estate would be great. Games are the last thing on the manufacturer's minds when putting these out. They will sell tons to enterprise and small businesses, who also have discounts, so their cost for a 4k would be greatly reduced and free up the need for multi-monitor setup and support. Before someone goes, well look you need a port that can support it, nearly all business laptops and workstations come with docks that have the proper display port to drive these displays.

You make a great point, but it comes down to is the price worth it and can you handle only 30 hz? (Unless u drop $3500 for the asus that is 60hz) And my comment was completely based on gaming... even tho 2560 x 1440p is probably plenty for work space comparing to most displays or even 1080p. 4K would be insane though.

DELL's cheapest 4K is around 600$ tho? So I would expect 1440p to be in the 300$ ballpark by now.

Yeah $600 ish.

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=210-ACHO

You also have to figure it is TN, and 30 Hz. Most 1440p monitors are 60 Hz, IPS/PLS panel, some can overclock, and $280-$700 depending on brand.

Yep! This i do agree on, crikey i'm still stuck on 1080p and in my eyes that still demands a very good card to obtain maximum eye candy thumb.gif
