Recovering old files deleted a couple months ago?

Looking for more knowledgeable people for this problem:

Hey guys, I stored some files in my HDD drive a while back and I regret it now because I sent them to the recycling bin and deleted them and I tried the restore folder points and some recovery programs but it seems that it can't find them anymore.

Thanks.

They are probably overwritten and unrecoverable.

All I know about right now is Recuva. Have you tried it? If so, then can you detail what you've tried with Recuva? If not, then I highly recommend it.

Sorry. :/ I've lost a number of pictures this way when I thought they were backed up before the hard drive went from 160GB to vegetable a month later. When I was restoring to a new hard drive, I realized some pictures were missing and I tried the vegetable hard drive with a few disk recovery utilities. They found a few files but they were damaged and image were horribly corrupted and completely unrecoverable.

:cry
