my question isnt "does my specs meet the requirement of doing 2 monitors"

my question is, "how to do a 2 monitor set up"

the reason why im asking this question is because ive seen many softwares that is used for dual monitors and such .

i always thought, for dual monitor, you just plug both monitors onto a video input on the gpu,
and go into screen resolutions and set that up.

but after i seen these softwares for managing dual monitors, i started to think you need drivers, softwares, and other stuff.

When I bought my second monitor I just plugged it in, to me a few try's on which GPU ports for which monitor.

That is simple.
(1) Get 2 monitors
(2) plug them both into GFX card(s) in your PC.
(3) in windows right click on desktop, pick "screen resolution" from the menu appearing. If both screens are not already functional in there you can enable second screen, pick its orientation relative to the "main" screen and decide if the second display will mirror the content of the first one or act as "extended desktop" (which is the one you want).

Assuming drivers are already installed and functional, but there is no difference really in drivers installation process regardless of the number of displays you have connected.

It looks like you have an MSI GTX 760 Hawk installed in your rig. I would download and install the latest Nvidia Drivers (Found Here) for your Graphics Card because it will give you better performance. Granted if you have automatic updates setup, it will download and install them for you, but personally it is more reassuring for me that I am installing the right thing if I go on Nvidia's site and download it myself.

Nvidia also offers graphics optimization as well with the GeForce Experince tool which is included in the download with the latest drivers. (The stand-alone software can be found here though)

All in all, if you want better system stability and better quality imaging, I would definitely use software and drivers (even if your just running one monitor) for you graphics card.

I would agree with the steps above. With maybe a few more details because of my response above to IMKR.

I use Windows to setup my accessory displays, Configuring the virtual placement, Resolution changes, & orientation of my displays. But I use Nvidia for performance increases, stability, compatibility, SLI, Surround, Bezel Correction and a lot of other features that they include that Windows just doesn't have time to implement in there OS.

I hope this helps IMKR biggrin.gif

ohh ok i see,
so when i read about all these softwares and drivers and such they were referring to my gpu? (my system drivers is up to date)
i thought there was specific driverse/software to use for a dual monitor set up.

Most important are which ports on GPU to use. And more than 2 monitors on most AMD at least require a active mini display adapter

how do i know which ports to use? (by ports you mean video inputs right? like DVI, or HDMI??)

also, this is what was ganna do
use HDMI to HDMI for my main monitor, since it has built in speakers,
(i dont care for buying separate speakers. since im not some professional audio, video ediitng, person lol, as long as theres sound i dont care)
and use DVI to DVI for my 2nd monitor. (or DVI to HDMI if my potential second monitor doesnt have a DVI port, like my main monitor atm)

That sounds like a sound setup..I believe that every monitor has DVI , so I don't think you'll have any problem setting it up thumb.gif
When you're ready, try this program for dual screen wallpapers or multiple taskbars or whatnot..

for a dual monitor set up, does the resolution or refresh rate have to be the same?

what if for instance my main monitor at the moment is 120hz with 1080p monitor
and i plan on buying a used 1600 x 960 resolution monitor from someone as my 2nd monitor?

will that still work?
