New Build w/ Intel i5 4670k CPU - Is There Any Updates???

Thread Starter
This is my first post on oc.net. I just want to thank anyone ahead of time that may be able to help me with this.

Okay so I just finished my very first PC build and it went very well. Well I lie, it isn't 100% done. At this very moment is is on with Windows 7 working well. I did all the windows updates (very long time) as well as updated my GeForce gtx 650 ti boost. Installed flash and as well as adobe (not sure if i needed those two for a gaming build?) but thanks to CareyHolzmans youtube vids the build has gone great so far. My first question is what else do I need to update? I heard something about an Intel update or something? does my 4670k CPU have updates? Or even my motherboard (ASRock Z87 Extreme3). I already downloaded DayZ and it seemed to run very well but if there are updates I sure wanna take advantage of any benefits for my expensive (to me) computer parts. Also if anyone knows about the BIOS and what messing with the BIOS is all about or Updating the BIOS? I have no clue what that is or what it does. How important is it? I would assume its set up pretty well but just about anything can be made better these days.

Thanks to anyone that can help me with this smile.gif

The biggest thing is installing/updating the drivers for things like the ethernet and sound and graphics. You can normally get the drivers for most of the motherboard stuff from the motherboard website - the things you'd want to install would be the chipset drivers (called the INF drivers), USB 3.0, Ethernet, sound (and video, but it sounds like you've done that). Otherwise you just need to install/update the software you are going to be using. You don't need to update the BIOS unless you are having problems.
