Future GPU Upgrade

Well I am disappointed in the 750Ti, It is not much better than what I already got with the 650Ti, except in wattage use, And the $150 price tag is insane. I got my 650Ti 8 months ago for under $100, So I can scratch the 750Ti off my list for upgrading to a 2GB card. The R7 260x looks pretty good now that the prices are finally logical. The memory on the 260x is clocked faster than the memory on the 750Ti, This should help it use most of its 2GB of Vram, Also the 260x does a noticeably better job in benchmarks than my 650Ti does, Also I like the price on the 260x at $120. That is very tempting. However the R7 265 is supposed to be at $150, There is also some good decent deals on the older GTX660, But I feel with the GTX760 being out for as long as it has, the GTX660 should be at a lower price than $200. So I think I will go with the R7 265 if the price is at $150, If it is higher I will get the R7 260x , But so far I can't find a price or place to order the R7 265 from,

$150 Budget, or little more if I sale my 650Ti , But I only owned the 650Ti 7or 8 months, So I am not sure what I could get from it being used, It is still under warranty, But I only paid about 98 bucks for it new because of a rebate, I see the price on 650Ti is a little higher than it was when I got mine. So I am still not sure what to ask for it, I would hate to rip somebody off , Or to get ripped off. It would be nice to keep it as a physx card, But If I get the extra money from selling it, I could most likely benefit better from a stronger GPU than a newer $150 GPU with a physx card. I could wait another year though and have more than $150 to spend. But I am getting the upgrade fever.

Ok I decide to go with this card {{" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125443 "}} It is a Gigabyte Brand GTX 660 , Not a bad price for $189, And Hopefully it will do well. I don't much care the dual fans. The last thing I need is more fan noise. But I can't pass it up at that price.

That dual fan setup will be much quieter than any reference blower style design.

If you use more than 8xMSAA that card would reduce its performance given the 192bits bus width

Nevermind my brother said he is going to give me his old Radeon 7950 as soon as he gets a new card. He wants to get a R9 280x. I can't understand why he would want to upgrade since a 7950 is still a decent gpu. Seems kinda overkill for my 1280x1024 monitor. I just hope my 600watt PSU can handle it. But I am not going to complain if it can't that's for sure.

My Brother is a hell of a guy.

600W is fine but what quality? he is doing a sidegrade unless the 7950 is a bad clocker. it should match a stock 280X at only 1100 core.

edit: just let him and take the 7950. oc it and show him.biggrin.gif

you gonna need to oc your cpu.

Yeah here is a AnandTech Comparison http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1041?vs=1033

The 280x beats it but they are not too far apart.
Wow That is going to be a nice one to have, I recently got a new cooler and have my cpu slightly overclocked to 3.3ghz. You think that should be enough?

it will bottleneck but you would still see significant fps boost from your current gpu.

7950 oc'ed to 7970 Ghz speeds

stock 7970

tbh, you need more than 3.3GHz. for now, enjoy the card.
