Upgrade questions

Thread Starter
Ok so kinda in a bind at the moment.

I dont know if i should upgrade GPU or CPU first,
which ever i decide its gonna be bottle necked until i get both (maybe im wrong that's why i came here)

Thinking of The 8350, But others say its not a big upgrade from the 965 BE specifically at 4.2GHz .
I even thought of The i5 4670K but then i need a new board and i have a nice board but if thats the case then thats the case.

BF4 is running at 30-40 FPS on high not even Ultra, at 1080P

I play everything from killing floor, to minecraft, to BF4 and soon Titan fall
i dont know where to go from here, and the CPU is watercooled when i get a new GPU i plan that being on water too.

Sorry for the bad writing haha
thanks thumb.gif

I would say to go for the FX6350, wait until it goes no sale.
Then start saving up for a 250GB SSD.

6350 is often too close to the price of 8320. Normally only $10 separates those too.

The FX6350 might be a newer stepping then the FX8320 and I would think a 6 core is a little better for overclocking stability then a 8 core.

But then again the FX6350 and FX8320 could the exact same stepping
and the FX6350 is just an 8 core with two cores disabled.

Maybe best to just wait for one or the other to go on sale.

I have built a rig and tested with both the fx-8350 and 4670k. my current rig I have an FX-8350 teamed up with a GTX 780 classified and I'm getting 90-120 fps on multiplyer in BF4. The 4670k is overclocked to 4.5ghz and is paired with a GTX 760 and is getting about 70-85fps in bf4. What is your price point and what GPU do you currently have. Thats on ultra for the fx build and high for the i5 build

love it. I had fx6300 @ 5ghz in both mine and my sons rigs. I upgraded after moving my main rig to SLI. I saw a big min FPS increase in bf4 with 4670k. A couple weeks later I upgraded my sons as well.

the haswel lottery is kinda cruel though. I mean one of my chips does 4.8 and the other will not exceed 4.4. it doesnt matter as much because even at stock it is plenty fast enough.

My brother in law loves his the 4670k has better load times in bf4 but I hipe to even that when I put an ssd with the fx 8350

Yeah idk some have luck with it and others dont same with the 8350, But im gonna turn around and try and sell my Mobo and Phenom for around 150-200 so in the long run there both a $200 upgrade.

Yeah i looked up the comparison with the i5 and amd and there is no little difference its off the charts.

And what are your thoughts and the ASrock board?

Thanks

To be honest I have zero personal experience with them but I have not read any complaints in the haswell overclocking forum either.
