New Build - Timing

Thread Starter
So what are people's thoughts on the impact of next generation console gaming will be on PC gaming? Is right now a good time to invest in a new PC build with so many next gen advancements on the horizon?

I ask because I am rocking the setup in my sig and am due for a much needed update. Looking at it I am pretty sure I can only salvage:

Reuse
Case
Power Supply
Mouse
Keyboard
OS (can get education edition cheap)
HD?
Ram?
Monitor?

Sell/Scrap
CPU
Motherboard
Video Cards

I am trying to determine if building something cheaper for the near term is better because unusually large advancements will make current tech obsolete at a quicker rate than it even currently is.

Also, if you have build suggestions, I am always open to them. Thanks.

Edit: I also live very close to a MicroCenter so deals available.

I believe it is a great time due to the fact thay the consoles are now a couple steps behind a midlevel build so games will be easier to make for the development team. Also I know microsoft has commented about having cross platform servers and the easiest thing for them to do is open up their servers to pc

Whats your budget? Size of the psu?

Budget is probably close to 600. Maybe a bit more depending on if I need a new monitor (likely?). PSU is 750.

I think you could easily update your rig on a 600 dollar budget new cpu/mobo from microcenter they always got good stuff going new video card and some new ram to easy to stay under that 600 dollar mark. And windows should transfer over just fine shouldn't need to buy a new key
