Could you possibly measure how much space is in the Hdd Bay for a radiator? From the side wall to the parrellel panel in the middle. :-) Thank you

I can confirm that there is 120mm of space, touching, from the back of the radiator mount to the center case divider. That assumes you don't run into any obstructions however, and that you are able to run the piping and cabling through the available openings in the center divider.

Here's a picture of the area of concern for me. I'm using, or at least planning to use, the CS switches and USB ports which puts an obstruction at ~54mm. With my 80mm rad + 25mm fan I was unable to mount with the cables and USB plate in place. I have a 45mm + 25mm fan easily mounting with just a little concern over the USB cabling touching the fan at the front of the case. I'm going to be spending more time playing with cable routing options in the HDD bay over the next couple days.

Side radiator mount and USB cables

If you want to put a large radiator in push/pull in the side I'd suggest looking into alternatives to the switches and USB that I ordered. If you go with no IO panel you'll just have to worry about the back of the switches which puts your earliest obstruction around 90-95mm from the back of the radiator mount.

What colour tube/coolant you thinking? subbed

To start I'm going with clear for both tubes and coolant. I've been having a hard time visualizing what this is going to look like and clear seemed the easiest to change later if I feel the need.

Last pic for tonight. Here's the dual pump top and mount with res and the RedHarbinger res cover. I'm still working on res mounting options - either directly to the pump top [sort of] as pictured, or mounted vertically free-standing against the center divider. I kind of like it on top of the pump top though.

For those of you playing along, the pictured setup leaves 142mm from the top of the res to the top of the case. Plenty of room for those 80mm rad's and fans smile.gif

Hi,

I was afraid of the switch/USB conflict. Do you think 90* spade connectors on the power/reset switches and relocating USB to Flex Bay would eliminate the issue.

Looks like +15mm from the back of the switch. Hopefully, they'll turn inside the 42mm space you realized up top???

Very interested...

Hey Aerlic,

First off, let me say that your build looks fantastic! I'm excited to see how everything ends up turning out.

I'm looking at using some very similar components, but I'm having a hard time mocking everything up. I'm trying to figure out a way to mount a reservoir in the front window on my S8. I'm hoping I can figure out a way to fit that EK-Res X3 250ml with the FMJ cover on the midplate, while still mounting a 360mm rad in the top.

Would there be any way at all that you could place the Res on the midplate, as close to the front cover as possible, and see how much room there is to the top of the case, and also how far back it goes from the front? I'm thinking I'll most likely end up having to go with a 150ml res, or mount a 240 up top in order to fit the 250.

If this is what you are looking for you have 50mm from the top of the res to the top of the case. Remember that's using the stock res top/bottom so depending on how you plan to mount things you might be able to shave a little bit of space. The res bottom that I have on it right now is 39mm tall. If you can find/use a shorter bottom you can save some space.

I think the 90 degree connectors would help a lot with cable routing. As for helping fit an 80mm rad in there with a fan you'd almost have to try it. It really depends on how far towards the front of the case your fan ends up.

The more I play with it I think the only problem/obstruction is the cables themselves. In my case the USB cables; it looks like the switch cables would route out of the way of a deeper rad just fine.

Thank you sir! That's exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping that I could at least do a UT60 up top, without a push fan in that slot

Thank you sir! +REP! That's exactly what I was looking for.

Somewhat unfortunate news though, as I was hoping to put a UT60 up there, without a push fan in that slot closest to the front cover, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen. I may just go with a 200mm Koolance Res, as it seems like it would be just short enough to fit. That just means I'll have to skip on the FMJ cover though.

I may have to look into some shorter bottom caps, as I really just need about 10mm shaved off for it to work.

Thanks again for doing that!

You don't think the res can be pushed up close enough to the front cover that it'll squeeze up between the edge of the rad do you?

What are the diameters for the rear radiator ports? Think they are small enough to hold anti-vandal power buttons like the ones they offer?

@Aerlic

Hey man, thanks for the pics smile.gif really helped getting a better understanding of what I want to do. I should be able to fit a P/P 60mm their.
Yeah I thought I might need some 90 degree fittings as well. thanks
Rep +1 smile.gif

REP+ Thanks for providing pix. Still on hold on purchasing an S8 until I figure what layout I want to go for.
