Overclock gone wrong, Black Screen.

I've done a lot of research on this problem, Google searching and such, and I just can't seem to find the exact same issue or a solution. Maybe someone here could help me.

I bought a Radeon R9 290 and did a bit of benchmarking with it. Then I decided to fire up CCC and do a bit of overclocking and see how much more I could squeeze out of it.

I haven't overclocked a Radeon since they changed the whole overclock utility and this new quadrant graph bull**** with the circle you drag around was unfamiliar to me. I just dragged it to the uppermost red corner, not realizing it was too much, and applied the settings.

Black Screen.

Now every time I start Windows, if I don't immediately open task manager and kill CCC, it will black screen.

I uninstalled drivers, reinstalled new drivers, installed old drivers, used driver cleaner, personally deleted every folder, every registry entry... nothing is making this issue go away.

As soon as catalyst control center is loaded into memory it black screens.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Use DDU (display driver uninstaller), the ddu thread is on the amd driver section of guru3d forums.
Run it in safe mode, and uninstall the driver from there, and then run DDU in safe mode.

Then reinstall.
All problems will be solved.

YES!, This worked like a charm!

THANK YOU!!!

EDIT: God, after loading CCC back up and actually looking at these overclock settings, I can't believe I did what I did... What on earth was I thinking. LOL

I would'nt be to hard on yourself wink.gif this latest beta set seems to have some kind of black screen/wrong display output on boot bug

I myself did a DDU clean in safe mode rebooted installed 14.2 beta, rebooted and got a blank display,G15 reported the PC was booting normally i just didn't have any output,i un-pluged/re-plunged in my monitor (single screen on DL-DVI) and got a display.....hummm

Rebooted....same issue PC working in the BG but no display....rebooted in SM wiped rebooted reinstalled,rebooted.....same issue

Back to 13.12 no issues...... guess i'll wait till 14.3 or until AMD decide to add fixes for something other than BF4/Mantel,don't get me wrong im all for new features/API improvements but AMD/ATI have way to many basic 2d display bugs they should really take care of first.
