[Build Log] The Gaming Cube - Page 2

Thread Starter
Just picked up a couple small items for my build:

  • NZXT Sentry Mesh Fan Controller so that I can control the 10 fans I'll have installed for my WC system. I can connect the push/pull fan of each section to its own PWM connector, which will allow me to adjust both fans at the same time.
  • Samsung External DVD-RW. Decided for external because I've only got two 5.25" bays, with one taken up by the fan controller. I might end up using the other 5.25" bay for another purpose, so that means my DVD-RW will to be external.

Nice, I really like that Fan controller from NZXT, i was looking at either one of them or that fan extender switch the do. You'll have to let me know if it's worth it thumb.gif

Thanks mate. It is just a simple fan controller, nothing too flashy which I like!!

Taking it out of the box, it had a sturdy build and the sliders move smoothly but require a gentle yet firm push, which I'm happy with.

I'm hoping to get most of the water cooling parts finished sometime in April, then hopefully install it all in the case to see how it looks and give myself a better idea of fitment for the final build. So I'll try give the fan controller a test run then for you thumb.gif

On a side note, still haven't received confirmation that my monitor has even been posted, so I've chased up the seller for some info! bruce.gif

Have done a quick & amateur job, using paint, to give a reasonable guide of how I imagine my water loop to be set out.

Will basically go: Reservoir > Pump > 360mm rad > GPU > GPU > CPU > 240mm rad > Reservoir

The only bit I think I need help on, is for filling & draining the loop.

I'd like to have the top of my reservoir (Alphacool Cape Corp Coolplex Pro 10LT) as the inlet for the reservoir, with the bottom where the coolant exits & continues into the pump. Can I use the reservoir in this way and still use the top of the reservoir as a fillport when I need to? Or do I need to follow "Option B" and run the tubing to the bottom of the reservoir for the inlet?

Secondly, where is the best place to install a drain port? I was thinking after the pump and before the tubing continues into the other side of the case. Or, if I use the top of the reservoir as the inlet, can I use the second G1/4" on the bottom as a drain port by simply unplugging it when required?

Any other tips & suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

Got my new 27" QNIX QX2710 Evolution II LED 2560x1440 monitor delivered to me at work yesterday!! Have already set it up at home using my current (and old) gaming rig, and the difference is amazing between my previous monitor & this one. No issues with the monitor either which is a huge relief biggrin.gifthumb.gif

Will put up some happy snaps over the next day or two.

You're Watercooling plan sounds fine to me, but i'm not an expert when it comes to watercooling loops etc. The idea for the drain down sounds solid though, makes the most sense to have it at the lowest point of your loop.

As posted just above, I received my 27" QNIX QX2710 monitor the other day. I've already set it up on my current PC and it's looking awesome!!

Also went and ordered some of the last parts I could, before I begin the wait for the Haswell-E CPU's & Nvidia GTX 800 series GPU's to come out.

So I picked up my PSU, watercooling pump, pump top, reservoir & tubing. Main reason I got these is so that I can fit them in the case and get a proper idea of sizes & how I'll be setting up my watercooling system.

I am planning on installing some of the stuff I have on a temporary basis, just to work out how much room I'll have and how best to set out my watercooling loop. Will post pics of my results tomorrow!!
