Amd fx8320 pc runs sluggish

Thread Starter
Hi guys. i seem to be having problems with my pc. I do not believe it runs as good as it is supposed to do.
When playing BF3 in 1920x1080 with all graphics settings at the highest option i get fps jumping between 37-110. and when playing world of tanks i also jump between 30-65 fps.
I dont quite feel like that is the performance i should be getting with my machine.

Here is my rig;
mobo: Gigabyte 970A-UD3P
Cpu : Amd Fx 8320 Black edition
Gfx: XFX Radeon R9 290 ref
Ram: Kingston HyperX blu ddr3 1600mhz- 8gb
Ram: Kingston HyperX blu ddr3 1333mhz- 8gb
Windows disk: Kingston ssdnow 120gb
Data disk 1: Sata disk på 200gb
Data disk 2: Sata disk på 500gb
psu: Seasonic M12 II 750w 80+ Bronze modular psu
Windows 8.1 64 bit

I run the 13.251.0.0 driver from amd.

Thanks for looking guys thumb.gif

I have included a couple of benchmark pictures:

Maybe your two separate sticks of ram aren't running in dual channel...

I've heard that running an fx with single channel memory is a performance killer.

That's my guess...

I had the same problem with BF and 1333 RAM. For some reason I was getting some serious FPS drops and lag while playing. I switched to all 1600 ram and the problem vanished. There another guy I just commented on tonight with the same issue. Please try using the 1600 MHz stick only and see what happens. This is something I may contact EA about since you may be the 4th person I have encountered with this issue with 1333 MHz ram and the Frostbite engines 2-3. (I had the issue with BF3, the other guys had it with BF4.)

I have checked up on my ram. And they are running in dual channel mode.
Tried removing the 1333 sticks to see if they bugged it up... didnt seem to make a difference

WR, i keep my i7 at stock and HT off playing BF4 but with mantle. BF3, i have to oc my i7 4.5 and still keep HT off. maxed out both games using 1080 at 140% scale. single 290. can't play other games with the i7 at stock except BF4 mantle.

edit: btw, i did post this in response to your other post. in case you did not see . . .

ocn, WR. you gonna need to oc your cpu until mantle supports all your games. my i7 struggled even with just the 7970 when i left it at stock.

that chip can handle the 290 fine. just need to be oc'ed.
