x79 Motherboard's Current Bios Help Please...

This is a question that probably doesn't get asked very often...

I recently purchased a i7 4930k with a ASUS Rampage IV Gene motherboard which should be here by Wednesday. I have read that I will most likely need to use the board's flashback feature to update the bios so that it is compatible with the 4930k. That seems easy enough until I read that I may have to convert .rom to the newer .cap.

As I won't be able to access the bios without the processor/memory/psu installed, how do I determine what the board's current bios is (.rom/.cap) without actually being in the bios? Would it be printed on the motherboard's box or perhaps a sticker on the motherboard itself?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Oh Oh! nvm. I answered my own question....LOL

Right after I posted this, I found some random post on Tom's Hardware's forums. Look what you can achieve with a little bit of searching. tongue.gif

You should determine the BIOS the motherboard shipped with. The BIOS version is the last 4 numbers on a very thin white sticker (bar code ) on the extreme right hand edge of the board, next to the SATA ports or the 24 pin ATX power.
