Big Bang XPower with USB 3.0 Internal/External Expansion in PCIE x16 Slot

Thread Starter
I downloaded the manual from MSI and couldn't see anything that specifically states whether or not I can install PCI x1 products in the PCI x16 slots. It does specify that the included soundcard can only be plugged into the x1 slot, and it is currently taking up the only x1 slot I've got. I want to connect an Expansion Card to add a couple USB 3.0 ports to the back of my machine as well as hook up my USB 3.0 integrated port that's built into my case using the internal 19-pin header. I'm currently running two 4850s in crossfire so I'm not sure if adding an additional device will somehow take away from my cards and whether or not the board will even recognize it.

I don't know why they said that. You can plug in any PCI-E device in any PCI-E slot and it should work.

Yeah, that note in the manual was what caused me to hesitate on the card purchase. I suppose it wouldn't be the end of the world to just buy the card, try it for myself and hope for the best. I was just hoping to not waste time with it if someone had any experience with this combo. Thanks for your response, DeXel.
