[Garter]Tablet Sales Grew 68 Percent in 2013, With Android Capturing 62 Percent of the Market - Page 2

My wife was using a Nexus 7 and just got tired of it. We upgraded her to an iPad Air and she likes it a lot better. I'm an Android guy myself, but I think I'd take an iPad over a Nexus myself.

i personally dont like tablets at all. no keyboard is a big turn off for me as hunting and pecking is so annoying. do you know how many kids i know who know how to use the internet but dont know how to type? alot. i rather have an ultra-portable or convertible

well i have a nexus 7... got it for $150 new... 1080p screen, 32gb of storage. Doesn't lag on anything. Frankly it's a great little machine. hardly touch my laptop anymore. Hell it will play 10hours of video before needing to be plugged in.

couldn't see myself spending $500 to get the same features from an ipad.

don't get me wrong. i've used the high dollar tablets, they're amazing little machines. but it's hard to justify the added expense for the tiny gains in quality. The nexus 7 is right in the sweet spot of price/performance.

Obviously you're not in a good mood.

- Why what? Why I'm allowed to have an opinion?
- Never said I owned a tablet myself
- By "average person" I mean a person who isn't a PC Gamer/builder/enthusiast/programmer/engineer/scientists/etc.
- Never said everyone should own an iPad
- I almost never see anyone use an Android tablet. Is that my fault?

Lol, getting mad over nothing.

theres nothing special about ipads, and an android tablet is no harder to use then an ipad so the "average person" statement is irrelevant. the cheapest 8"+ android tablet is $100 cheaper then the cheapest ipad (mini). its more likely for the "average person" whos looking for their first tablet to go with one of the many andriod tablets.

The aspect ratio of Ipad(4:3) is good for web browsing, terrible for watching HD video. So whether its special or not depend on what the user does with the tablet. The few guys I see on the plane watching HD video with massive black bars on their Ipad give me a good laugh.

Quite simply price. My £205 Nexus 7 2013 does everything I need. It has decent battery, I can watch TV, play BF4 commander mode... browse the net etc...

No need to pay for an iPad unless you have your digitlal libraries built into that ecosystem.
