Office 2013?

Thread Starter
Been using Microsoft Orifice since the early days of computing. I'd be interested in getting some opinions from people running Office 2013 right now. Currently using "Win 7 64-bit with Office 2010 32-bit. Works just fine. Not sure I want to upgrade to 2013 - but I was just curious as to what people think of it. It has been out for less than 1 year - already there is a service pack for it! Good lord.

I use Office 2010 at home, and Office 2013 at work. In my opinion, there is no compelling reason to upgrade from 2010 to 2013. If you are running 2007, it would be a worthy upgrade though.

This pretty much sums the difference's which aren't many http://blogs.gartner.com/guy-creese/2012/07/17/office-2013-vs-2010/

I don't like 2013. Its interface reminds me far too much of the "stark" Win3.1 type interfaces being re-pioneered by iOS 7 and Win8, and on top of that I find its tendency to use the right-side popout pane for even simple things like changing the size of a picture in powerpoint to be much less intuitive than the dialog boxes in 2007 or 2010.

Outlook looks a little different, but that's pretty much the only thing I've noticed so far.

A lot of third party programs (such as the Stamps.com software) don't work with Office 2013 either. As soon as my 1 year subscription is up in May, I'm going back to 2010...or find something else such as OpenOffice or LibreOffice, which is free, and does just about everything that MS Office does. They're not as pretty, but they get the job done.
