Upgrade Suggestions? GTX 480, i5 2500K (4.0 ghz), 8GB RAM.

Hello!

I'm thinking about doing some upgrades to my current PC. I honestly mostly play League of Legends and don't need anything TOO crazy but I've been having some FPS drops and the urge to buy some new hardware. I have a 600W power supply, ASRock z77 Extreme 3, 8GB RAM, GTX 480 EVGA. Are there some decent GPUs i could purchase that would run well with my i5 2500k and allow me to use my current power supply? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

you shouldn't be getting FPS dips in LoL with a 480.

I looked at the box and my power supply is weaker than I thought, might be time to upgrade there as well.

My thoughts exactly, I get these random drops to 40 FPS for around 3-4 seconds then back to 60.

What resolution are you running? I didn't think LoL was very taxing.

Just 1080x1920. I didnt think it was either, I've turned it down to medium visual settings also, maybe the GPU is going bad?

I recently purchased a newer Ben Q monitor with 120hz refresh hoping to run the game around 80FPS.

Your PSU is okey its not great but its not bad either

Wattage wise its enough even for a Titan Black Edition so a PSU is not what you need

I've got the 470's but I'm on 2560x1440p now... So they also need to be upgraded...

But for you I'd advice a new power supply and maybe a bit more than 530W... I'd go for at least 650W (but that's me, and I'm a sparky wink.gif )

And if you NEED to spend more, go for a GPU --> GTX660Ti (if still available???) Or a GTX760Ti or higher (and MORE expensive)

But indeed for LoL you don't need that power... Sure your internet connection is still ok? Or your HDD not full/defraged? Maybe you need to clean your PC (software-wise) like a virusscan, defrag, regcleaner, etc

I was wondering about that. Could a HDD cause FPS drops? Maybe I could just put League and my windows on an SSD?
