how do you even print with chrome os when there are no printer drivers?

You use google cloud prints. They work fine you just set them up differently but they work just the same

so basically you have to be on the internet to print? that makes a lot of sense if the print job goes to a server that have the printer drive for your printer and is also kind of a load of crap if you need to print off line.

You dont have to be online. Your router just has to work. No need to be online

I'm gonna assume it doesn't work with some printers then. specially those with no Ethernet ports.

Ok I own a chromebook and use it regularly. You can use most printers. Their are a TON of printers that work with chromebooks. If it has Online print of anykind. HP print, Google cloud or a online print of any kind it works. yeah a Cheap $30 printer wont work directly but mostly any one $60 and up will made in the last 2 years. If you want a older printer to work then you need to use Crouton jump into Ubuntu and print USB that way

Need the space, but not have it - run out of space just when you were transferring something or downloading something.

Not use it, do ahve it - My current situation right now. 8TB in my system about 5TB used.

lol my printer is an HP Photosmart P1000 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&product=61872

I'm pretty sure it's from the early 2000s or late late 90s. However an entire ink replacement is 11 USD shipped and not only did i get to work with windows 7 but, i found drivers for linux and OSX too. tongue.gif Sure print quality isn't the best but, that's all you need for shipping labels and documents. biggrin.gif

Man that thing is old but its good to see it chugging along. If you need to print then hop into Ubuntu with crouton and print from there. Which is really simple

I owned a C710 since it release and it has been great outside of some issues which have been getting much better each release. Crouton has added alot of functionality to the machine because it allows acutally work programs to be used with the laptop(great in programming classes)

Main issues with ChromeOS
Android Devices will not be read over USB
You have to learn a new keyboard
Printing USB just doesn't work like it should and requires a cloud printer
You have to online to set it up
You have to be online to start offline printing
Most if not all of your programs come from google and their store.

Crouton fixes ALOT of those issues so its not all bad

Still you get a Good fast laptop for a nice price. You just have to learn to live without Windows/Mac and live in lInux
