i7 970 overclocking on P6T

Thread Starter
So I am trying to overclock but been getting really weird results.
I wanted to know if anyone has a regular P6T not se or pro deluxe etc but just a regular P6T
and what overclocking setting they have with a stock i7 970 set to performance on the fan.
I've googled some guides but no details that i seem to be looking for.

Do you have a baseline tune dialed in? These were pretty easy to tune, 4.2 with 1.3v is all these probably will need given that the motherboard has all the QPI Ratio and Uncore settings are in line.

Careful with using Bloomfield guides for Gulftown parts; they have some important differences and guides made for i7 920/930/940/950/960s will generally recommend too much VTT, too high an uncore multiplier, and other subtlety incorrect things for i7 970/980/990s.

No I do not have any baseline settings.
This is why I am asking to see if anyone with a p6t can provide me with their settings.

Yes I heard gulftown is very picky about voltage and to be careful with it.

I tried doing something silly earlier where i just upped my blck to 160 without changing any other settings.
It actually worked well while gaming but with prime95 it crashed or when just having my pc on for over 24 hours idle it would also crash.

You will need to change the dram timing settings to match your ram.
The below is for 1600MHz ram, if you do not have 1600MHz ram you will need to adjust DRAM Freq and UCLK Freq for your ram.
You may need to adjust CPU voltage and QPI/DRAM voltage up/down to get your chip stable.

Here is a link to a great tool that will show you the relationship between BCLK, CPU multi, QPI multi, UnCore multi and Memory multi
http://icrontic.com/files/apps/nehalem-calc/

Reads this a couple to times, it explains what you are changing and why.
