computer case air leakage

Thread Starter

I'd like some advice regarding air leakage from a computer case. It's my first build in a Merlin SM 8. I would like to have a fan plan to yield positive pressure. However, I'm not sure how much air leakage to count through the seams and optical drives etc. None of the sides of the case are ventilated except for fans. I have 5 intake fans and 3 exhaust fans. The PSU will intake from inside the case. Attached is the table that I used to calculate the flow in CFM. I am using DEMCiflex filters which have an 80% efficiency rating. This computer will be used for video editing and will also be my first attempt at overclocking.

You don't count that air. Your "Net" 50/101 CFM, can't happen as you can't put air into a case without all of it exhausting back out. "Net" airflow is always zero CFM. Your real world "Net" airflow will be close to zero. It will only be the air that leaks out.
